Check out Tina Bass' newest Release, His Safe Keeping...

Hello everyone, for those of you who don’t know me my name is Tina Bass and I’m a light erotic romance writer who loves a happily ever after, but with twist and turns along the way. Right now I’m in the process of writing The Safe series. Book one in the series, His Safe Keeping, is available now on Amazon in e-book and paperback form. If you haven’t already, check it out, because the second in the series, Safe With Him, will be out soon, and I’m working on book three now.

As most writers know, one of the most asked question is… “Where do you get your ideas?”  Well, let me just say…Snacks! Yes, that’s right all those ooey-gooey-bad-for-you-but-taste-so-good snacks! I can write page after page while downing handfuls of salty or sweet snacks.  I know, I know the trend is eating healthy, and it is a great trend, but sometimes snacks are a necessary part of our lives.  And, I have found that snacks while writing are important to my personal creative processes. Don’t ask me why, because honestly I haven’t the faintest idea, all I know is I can sit in front of my laptop and stare at a blank page for hours and…nothing. Put a bowl or bag of some sweet (or salty) stuff beside me and I can’t type fast enough. Case in point, when I was asked about doing this guest post, and, “The post can be about whatever you'd like.” What!? Yeah, I didn’t have a clue, I mean sure I was going to talk about my book(s) but then beyond that…nothing. Then while I was sitting and basically staring at a blank page wondering what in the world could I say, a friend of mine stopped by with a bag of cotton candy (a very good friend who knows I freakin’ love cotton candy) I ripped open the bag tore into that fluffy stuff of yum and I kid you not, started typing away! So there you go.  One of my great secrets for writing success.  Snacks!!
Just a little taste…

Excerpt from His Safe Keeping:

Krista smiled bigger, then remembered the brownies and ran to the door. Kade was already getting into his truck when she came running out to catch him. “Wait! Don’t leave yet!” she yelled at him as she raced back into the house. She sprinted into the kitchen, grabbed the brownies and the note she had written to go along with them, and hurried back out the door and slammed into Kade as he was returning to the house to meet her. He reached out to steady her and she smiled, shoving the brownies at him. “These are for you. Kind of a thank you and all.” She explained.
Kade looked down at the wrapped plate, then back up to her face. “You made me brownies?”
“Yeah. I hope you like them.” Krista was a little nervous. She didn’t even know if he liked brownies or not.
He took the plate. “Get in the house.” His voice sounded hoarse and a little strained.
“What’s wrong?” Krista asked him, confused.
“Krista. Baby. Get in the house. Now! If I touch you again, I won’t stop. And I gotta get this shit done.” He ground out the words, sounding as if he were in pain.
“Okay,” she replied somewhat breathlessly, but didn’t move.
            “Krista,” Kade growled.
She jumped. “Okay, okay.” She ran back into the house, shut the door and locked it, all the while smiling a big silly smile. Three minutes later her phone rang and she realized she was still leaning against the door, smiling like crazy.
“Hello,” she answered, trying to sound normal.
“Thank you, baby.” She heard Kade whisper to her and that big smile grew even bigger.

Once Bitten, Twice Shy by Scarlett Jade...

Once Bitten, Twice Shy (Just a Little Taste Book 2)

***Blurb***

Sasha never imagined she would see the man she loved in this lifetime again, but when he shows up at her door mere hours after being told he's dead, she’s filled with joy and rage. As stress takes its toll, she ends up in the hospital, a place that should be safe, but isn't.

Jeremy cannot believe his luck, knowing that Sasha still cares and that there’s hope for their family. It’s all snatched away by the darkness that lingers at the edge of their happiness and he races against time to save the two people he cares about the most.

When he realizes he has a secret weapon in the search, he’s shocked at the tiny source of knowledge and the subsequent secrets that come out of the closet. As he finds the woman he loves, he has to help piece her back together and hope their love will survive the flames.

Light always wins against the darkness, but sometimes victory comes with the greatest cost of all.

***Excerpt***

“Hmm, screaming would be a very, very bad move. I like you, Sasha. I've always liked you, but for right now, you don't need to know who I am. You just need to know that I’m watching. I'm always watching. I'll find you when I’m ready for you. I just hope you’re ready to hear the truth when I come.”
She couldn't tell if the mystery voice belonged to a man or a woman. Her pulse went frantic as she felt a chill draw near her. “Don't hurt my baby. I'll do whatever you want.” She clutched Onyx tighter to her breast, and the baby woke and started to fuss.
“I'd never hurt her. She's too important. You, however, are dispensable at this point.” The voice sighed and continued. “Although, he wouldn't like it very much. Oh, how I’d love to hurt Jeremy as he hurt me. It’s a good thing you were always kind. A very good thing.”
“Do I know you?”
“Yes,” the voice replied, gently. “I think it’d be best if you forget I was here right now. It truly would be a shame for anything to happen to the one who’ll have eyes like emeralds and hair like midnight.”
“Wh-What? You’re seriously threatening my baby?”
The voice whispered, menacingly, “Shut your fat mouth, woman, unless you want me to take you out right now. I can have it done in thirty seconds; your windpipe would be crushed before you could even scream.”
A gasp of terror caught in her throat. “What do you want from me?”
“I want you to forget I've ever been here.” With that, the voice was gone, the chill leaving the room.

***Bio***

Scarlett Jade is just a small town Southern girl who is now a Northern transplant. She was always found from a young age with her brow furrowed, scribbling words on paper. Now that she is grown, life isn't much different, she still scribbles words, but mostly on the computer! She is married to the man of her dreams, her real life knight in shining armor and Prince Charming. She has one son who is the apple of her eye and she homeschools year round. You can typically find her playing in the dirt with her son or snuggled on the couch with her dog Peanut, reading a good book. She loves chocolate, thinks coffee should be a religion, and loves to make people laugh with her quirky sense of humor. She is bold, brazen, and even been told she's ballsy, but she doesn't mind, she takes it in stride. She has a huge passion for all things paranormal and has a penchant for spicy love stories that leave you turning the pages and dying to slide between the sheets of her next book!

Tyler proved to be the man of her dreams, exactly how she’d imagined him. Questions:

1.      How long have you been an author?
I’ve been writing stories for my own pleasure for many years but I’ve been a published author for a year now. I have the Weekend Getaways Series with Secret Cravings Publishing and the Soul’s Desire Series with Beau Coup Publishing.

2.      What is your favourite genre?
I write contemporary romance intended for mature audiences. I am a romantic at heart and I’ve always enjoyed reading a good romantic story. Now I get to write my own. But I’m also interested in paranormal romance. You see, I was born and live in Transylvania. Here we grew up with the legends and myths about supernatural creatures and I’ve always found them intriguing. I am thinking of writing something in this genre too sometime in the future.

3.      If someone hasn't read any of your work, what book would you recommend they start with and why?
The Guardian Of My Soul – is my first full-length novel and the beginning of a series of books that are based on love, friendship, devotion, loss, fears, insecurities and many other traits that make it more complex and intriguing.

4.      What is the biggest surprise you’ve discovered about the writing process?
I’ve learned a lot along the way because I had the most amazing people to guide me on this journey. I am a lot more relaxed now than I used to be, knowing that my stories are in good hands.

5.      Can you tell us about one of your current works in progress?
Currently I’m working on the sequel to Unforgettable Hearts, a love story, full of passion, friendship, sacrifice, devotion, but also fears and insecurities.

For nineteen-year-old Ellie Benton, having feelings for Tyler Stuart is nothing new. They’d been best friends ever since they were kids, but everything changed when she moved to New York with her family at age twelve. She missed the Californian sunshine and the peaceful Los Angeles neighborhood where she grew up, but above all she missed the copper-haired boy whom she hadn’t seen or spoken to in seven years. Somewhere over the years she fell for him—hard. Tyler was her hero, the man of her dreams, and she mourned his loss every single day. She often found herself wondering what he looked like, if he still remembered her, but the fact that she hadn’t heard from him in such a long time saddened her. Having no other choice, Ellie carried on with her life, but nothing could fill the void he’d left in her heart. Her need for affection pushed her into relationships with men who only ended up breaking her heart and making her feel insecure. Ellie was sad, disappointed, wondering if she’d ever be as happy as she’d been in her home town.
When an unexpected trip reunited her with Tyler and his family after seven long years, Ellie found herself unable to resist the strong pull she felt toward him, nor control the feelings she’d fought so hard to keep at bay. The problem with that? Tyler’s initial reaction at the sight of her was cold, making her question if he’d ever cared about her. She was wrong. Tyler did care about her, more than she’d ever dreamed possible. A series of events led her to discover a new side of Tyler, secrets that turned her soul inside out and brought her more joy than she’d ever experienced. But, as they embarked on a passionate relationship—just when she thought she’d finally found her happiness—demons from their past and present threatened to separate them.
Can their love overcome the obstacles they have to face?

6.      Name one thing readers would be surprised to know about you.
I’m rather shy...until I get to know you better...then you can see the true me. I’m fun and I love a good laugh.

7.      Name your top three writing goals?
Be able to write full time, which is what I’m most passionate about, grow in the Amazon rank, and make the USA Today and New York Times list. But I think that’s probably what every writer wants. So, I’ll take one step at a time. For the moment I really enjoy my writing and all the amazing people I got to meet thanks to it.

Fun Questions -

1.      If you had a warning label, what would it say?
Warning label? Nah...I’m the sweetest person around! Hahaha

2.      If you had the chance to meet one of your characters privately, who would it be and what would you do?
That would probably Ellie Benton, the heroine in Unforgettable Hearts. I put a little bit of myself in her and a part of the story is inspired by something I’ve lived long ago.

3.      What is the naughtiest thing you’ve ever done?
Ha! Now that’s a piece of info I’d rather keep to myself haha. But I’m a romantic at heart. Naughty is not my thing. Unless I’m writing a book. ;)

4.      Finally, can you give us your contact links?

Sure, here’s where you can find me:

Excerpt  - Unforgettable Hearts

“You’re sleeping on the couch tonight.”
“No, I’m not!” He frowned. Was I being unreasonable? Was I being stubborn? Probably, but I just hated him making decisions that concerned me without consulting me first.
“Then where are you going to sleep?” I crossed my arms, refusing to give in.
“With you, of course.”
Taking one step back, I swiveled on my heels and darted for the bedroom, hoping I’d get there in time to lock the door behind me. No such luck. I was half way up the stairs when he scooped me up into his arms and held me tight.
“Put...me...down!” I gritted my teeth, but one thing I remembered since we were kids was that he could be equally stubborn when he wanted to.
Tyler made a quick stop in the dressing room, grabbed a scarf and returned to the room where he tossed me on the bed. Before I could understand what was going on, he’d straddled me, grabbed my wrists and used the cashmere scarf to tie my hands above my head, securely to the headboard.
“What the hell are you doing? Release me!”
“I’m going to talk some sense into you, love.” He got off me and began to undress, while I feverishly tugged at the scarf until I was almost out of breath.
“Don’t even think about it!” I growled when he got back in bed naked and pushed my legs apart to settle in between them. “I’m so angry with you right now, I—”
“You can’t dress up so damn hot and expect me to let you go, love. I want you and you want me. Don’t fight it, kitten.” His mouth pressed against my tummy through the see-through material of my nightgown while at the same time his hands slid up my legs under it. When they reached my panties, he curled his fingers around the silky material at my hips and yanked them down and off. Why wasn’t I doing anything? Any thought of struggling against my bondage evaporated in the haze of this endorphin surge.

Welcome Dina Redmon...

Hi, it’s really nice to meet you…at least, I think it is.
Isn’t that kind of how it goes? You meet someone on the internet and become instant friends. The two of you talk every day be it on messenger, video calls or on the telephone. You bond over daily stresses, family drama and common interests.

And then they do or say something that makes your skin crawl so you start to distant yourself a bit…and then a bit more…and then all together.

Is it easier to end a friendship on the internet than it is in real life? You don’t have to face them. You just hit one little “block” button and they disappear. I often think about what it would be like to be able to use that button in real life.
I don’t write this to debate the authenticity of online friendships/relationships, but instead to discuss some of the patterns I’ve been noticing.

Do you think it’s possible that the speed and convenience of the internet is changing our society? Are we becoming more of a throwaway society because of the block button?

Don’t like what someone has to say? Don’t bother to listen to them, hear their side of things or debate…just block them.

Think she dresses like a whore? Guess there’s no sense in talking to her about it. Just block her.

Religion? Politics? Blocked!
Sex? How dare she! BLOCK!!!

See where I’m going with this? We no longer communicate as we once did. We don’t take the time to listen to people, to talk to people…to learn. We simply block them when they don’t agree with us and move on to the next friendship.

What is that teaching the younger generations when it comes to acceptance and love? Don’t like it? Trade it in. Broken? Throw it away. Yep…great message.

I understand it’s not like this with everyone so please don’t bombard me with hate mail. I’m just pointing out a trend I’ve noticed.

You know what you could do right now? Use the internet for something fun! Like—oh, I don’t know—looking for a new book or two to read?

I hear there is some author chick by the name of Dina Redmon that has some pretty amazing books out! I think one of them is called Chasing Circumstance and the other is To Speak of it Again. Yep, I just checked, both of them are available on Amazon and have quite a few 5 star reviews.

Oh, and you can check her out on these sites as well!

Well, thanks for hanging out with me. I suppose this is where I should close this and send it in before I say something that really gets me in trouble. *wink* Plus, I have a book or three that need my attention.

Remember…
In all things ~ Love yourself.

A New Release with Author Karen Cino...

I am so excited to be guest blogging on Jennifer’s Blog.  I hope you enjoy my post.

Writing the final book “Survival” in the Mystical Wonders series was very hard for me.  When Hurricane Sandy hit the east coast, Staten Island was slammed.  All the houses across from the water and at points over a mile away from the water were washed out.

No one knew could ever imagine the devastation and the people who have lost their homes, and the people who barely escaped harms way. I live about a mile away from the ocean, but where I live had been secured by Fort Wadsworth.  I had many friends who lost their homes.  For this book I interviewed dozens of people.

Excerpt

“Oh. Okay. Give me a few minutes, I’ll get you a bottle of cologne.” Rose smiled before opening her storage cabinet and taking out two bottles. She handed him the two. “One is the cologne, the other is the after-shave. I thought you’d like to try both.”
“Thank you.” He smiled. “I will return the favor by bringing you a copy of my new CD next time around. Do you think you can handle a little rock and roll?”
“I’m sure I can. I might be a disco chick, but growing up I listened to what is now known as classic rock.”
“Great.”
There was an awkward silence before Rose spoke. “You said you had a few questions regarding the photo shoot.”
“Well…yes and no. I mean…I have to be quite frank with you. The reason why I came down here wasn’t for the cologne. Jason gave me a bottle the night of the concert.”
“Okay. Why did you come here?” Rose asked confused.
“I came here to ask you if you would join me for dinner tonight.”
Rose’s mouth dropped open. This was the last thing she expected. “Thanks, but I have to say no. I don’t mix business with pleasure.”
“It would be no big deal. Let’s just say I’m interested in what this photo shoot entails,” he explained. “My agent was quite vague when I asked him.”
Not making eye contact with him, she answered, “I’m sorry, Marco.”
“That’s okay,” he coolly replied. “I’ll see you next week for the photo shoot.” He walked to the door and before leaving, he mumbled, “Once again, I’m really sorry about ruining your film.”
“It really wasn’t your fault,” she said as he closed the door behind him. After a moment’s hesitation, Rose found herself opening the door and looking down the quiet hall to Marco waiting for the elevator. “Pick me up at eight o’clock at 352 Bryant Avenue. And don’t be late.” She shut the door to her office and stood there shaking her head wondering what had possessed her to accept his dinner invitation.
