Thank you so much for letting me stop by your blog today, Jennifer—I’m very excited to be here. When I sat down to write this guest post, I was listening to Avenged Sevenfold (if you haven’t heard of A7X, YouTube them NOW because their music is absolutely amazing). Once “So Far Away” stopped playing, I immediately decided I wanted to blog about music.
When I first began writing DEVOURED last year, I made a list of the most important themes and emotions in the book. My list was pretty short, but included the following: Lust, Second Chances, Fear, Submission, Love. Based on that list, I put together a pretty damn big playlist of songs that made me want to put every single emotion I was listening to into words. Since the DEVOURED series is about a rock star, my playlist included a ton of rock songs, especially music by Framing Hanley (Lollipop), Five Finger Death Punch (Walk Away), and Three Days Grace (just about every TDG song imaginable).
In fact, the overall mood and theme of DEVOURED can be described by “Take Me Under” by Three Days Grace:
I’m currently working on the Devoured sequel, CONSUMED, and once again I have a massive playlist I turn on every time I sit down to write. Here’s a sneak peak of what I’m listening to while I work on the novel (I love these bands, by the way):
So now that you know what I’m listening to while I write, what about you? What songs make your characters come to life on your screen?
I'd like to thank Emily for joining us. It's a great pleasure to have her on Labelle Books with us. Today Emily has generously offered an e-book copy of Devoured to one lucky commenter. So please leave a comment below with your email address' for a chance to win it.
I've read Devoured, and trust me when I say you'll love it!
