Labelle Books reviews: Now and Forever 3: Blind Love by Jean C. Joachim

BLURB:
Can a handsome, charming, womanizing professor win the heart of a blind ballerina? Love comes to the university as Peter Caldwell, dashing Art History professor and accomplished pianist meets Lara Stewart, ballerina. Peter can’t seduce with her with his devastating good looks because Lara can’t see. Obsessed with the one woman he can’t have, Peter has to learn how to love.
Sam Caldwell joins Peter, Mac, Callie and his grandchildren. Witty and attractive, Sam isn’t looking for a woman but finds love isn’t only for the young but the young at heart as well.
JENNIFER's REVIEW:
After reading the first two in this series I was really looking forward to getting my hands on this one, and it didn't disappoint.
Peter and Sam Caldwell have finally returned to the states after being in South Africa for so long. Family is reuinted, friendships are formed and unexpected love interests have the potential to become permanent but can the charming and sexy young Peter Caldwell persuade the lovely blind ballerina that he's given up his womanizing ways to be devoted to her, or will his past catch up to him?
And, can Sam really find love again at his age when the woman he's opened up to pushes him away when her adult son is concerned she's moved on, replacing his dead father?
Jean Jochim amazes me again with yet another well written emotional love story, of not only one, but three love stories combined. I'd hate to give to many details to spoil it for you, but you'll also meet lovely couple Marcia and Jakob. Marcia is trying to cope with taking care of her dying husband and it's Jakob that helps her pick up the pieces to get her life back on track, and fullfill one of her life long dreams... want to know what? Read it and find out. *winks*
This story is action packed with suspensful plot twists throughout. Unconditional love, great family bonds, new beginnings and happiness aside, there is also blackmail, strippers, and a murderer that lurks in the background...

Welcome, Lucy, how long have you been an author?

LUCY: My first print publication was back in 2006, so I guess it was then! Though if you include unpublished works – ever since I could write.
*grins* What is your favourite genre?
LUCY: I don't really have one, to be honest. I write m/f, f/f and ménage within contemporary, paranormal, BDSM, etc... there's lots of variety to my work and I just tend to either write what pops into my head, or write what the call for submissions requires.

If someone hasn't read any of your work, what book would you recommend they start with and why?
LUCY: Well, it depends if they want m/f, f/f or ménage. For m/f stuff, I'd recommend On the Prowl because it has a nice variety of stories so people can what my writing style is like. For f/f, I'd recommend Bite with Height (especially if they like paranormal romance) because it's my favourite and most popular lesbian story. For ménage, I'd recommend A Menu with a Difference or Brick Dust & Bedsprings, dependent on whether the reader is looking for f/f/m (A Menu With...) or m/f/m (Brick Dust...).

What is the biggest surprise you’ve discovered about the writing process?
LUCY: Moving from short stories into longer work is tough. I recently had my first ever novella published, and although once I got into it, I really enjoyed writing it, it was difficult. Making sure that the story remained interesting, fun and sexy was a challenge, but early reviews indicate I've pulled it off (thankfully). I also developed the hugest crush on my hero whilst I was writing the novella.

Can you tell us about one of your current works in progress?
LUCY: Yes. I'm currently working on my story for an anthology I'm co-editing with Victoria Blisse, called Smut by the Sea. My story is called Dodging, and I don't want to give too much away, so I'm just going to say it's about a girl who sets out to seduce the guy working on the dodgems at a funfair by the sea...

Name one thing readers would be surprised to know about you.
LUCY: I'm only 26. Most people think I'm much older. Not sure if that's a good thing or not!

Name your top three writing goals?

LUCY: Start a novel. Finish a novel. Publish a novel.
Great answer, if you had a warning label, what would it
say?
LUCY: Warning: I'm the girl your mother warned you about.

LOL, if you had the chance to meet one of your characters privately, who would it be and what would you do?
LUCY: Ooh, it would be Damien from Off the Shelf, my novella. As I mentioned, I have the biggest crush on him. Therefore, I think you can probably guess what we'd do ;)

What is the naughtiest thing you’ve ever done?
LUCY: I've done the deed at a popular UK theme park, while thousands of people were just feet away.
I'd like to thank Lucy for joining us today for those of you who would like to leanr more about Lucy and her work she can be reached through these sites:

JENNIFER REVIEW:
As one of the best vampire warriors around, Eli, had one important mission that required all of his attention and unbeknownst to him would change his life forever, to protect a human named Genevieve. Clueless as to why, his curiosity is fulfilled once the powers of the Seer take over Genevieve. Plagued by unbearable headaches and visions of the future, her life takes an unexpected turn.

Eli, races against time to protect her. He has an uncontrollable need to keep her safe, and takes her back to see his generals so they can turn her into a vampire before the powers of the Seer kill her. Once there, the generals realize she is Eli’s one true mate, but love is something Eli knows nothing about, and to make matters worse he then finds out he has to share her with a guardian, who acts as another protector and her source of life. He’s a shifter named, Kota, and Eli doesn’t like him. Without a choice, Eli needs to learn to share her or risk losing her for good.

An Interview & A Giveaway with the Talented Lindsay Downs

A missing soldier. A break in. A former, now soldier, model tells of an aborted assault. A passageway hiding more than years of dust and cobwebs. Rooms where there are none. The reappearance of the mysterious ‘brown-haired man’. What, if anything, ties these random facts together.

With precision and dedication Emily and Dakota start to unravel some of the questions. Only when an FBI agent steps up do the facts start to merge into what appears to be a terrorist conspiracy.

A body found halfway across the country is the final clue in answering all of the question, but one.
Will Emily be able to save a life before it’s too late?
Welcome, Lindsay, how long have you been an author?

LINDSAY: As a published author since 2006 but for more years than I care to remember I’ve
loved to write stories. When I was in high school I had a tendency to drive my English teachers crazy with the way I wrote-my way, not the way they wanted me to. After several heated discussions I ended up being allowed to pursue my writing style which has held fast all these years.
What is your favourite genre?

LINDSAY: For reading or writing? For reading I love regency. There’s something about the stories that captures my imagination, as a reader and also a writer. That’s not to say that I don’t
indulge in other genres-otherworld, which includes but is not limited to Sci-Fi, contemporary romance but not mystery and suspense. I’ve even been known to read an erotica or three but there has to be a good story which drives the book forward.

For writing I write mostly contemporary suspense and mystery even though I have been known to dabble in historical romance at one point. For a total change of pace I’m looking into writing a regency romance novel or two. But, it will be written on my terms with a strong heroine and will have a suspense element to the book.

If someone hasn't read any of your work, what book would you recommend they start with and why?

LINDSAY: That’s a bit of a tough question to answer. What I’d recommend really depends on the person and where their interests lie. For a touch of mystery/suspense I guess my choice would be
Emily Dahill, CID Part 1. This is a collection of four(4) short stories that sets the ground work for the entire series. But to dive right into the series, A Body in the Attic is the way to go. (See the blurb above to find out about the book). If you are into historical romance then A Special English Rose is the way to go.
What is the biggest surprise you’ve discovered about the writing process?
LINDSAY: It’s hard work, harder than anything I or you will ever do. Writing every day, sometimes even on the weekend. My mind is always working on either the current book or the next or the second or fifth that I will be writing. This is a job, if that’s even the right word, that you either love or hate and I love it. Being an author is also a very lonely job: you and, your only friend the computer, for hours on end either writing or researching.

The rewards are few and far between, and I’m not talking about the royalty checks either. It’s the
reviews. When I put a book out for the public I never know what people will say about it. Was it good, bad or indifferent? Did it live up to their (reader) expectations or did I let them down. This is a constant worry which drives me to be better with each release.

Can you tell us about one of your current works in progress?
LINDSAY: I’m glad you pluralized ‘works’. In edits with my publisher, Astraea Press (AP), I have the sequel to the first book in the Emily Dahill Series. This one, Emily Dahill, CID Part 2, is a collection of four(4) short stories which lets the reader get a deeper understanding of not only Emily but her collie partner Dakota.
In pre-submission edits is an anthology of three(3) historical romance with elements of suspense stories. Two of the stories are set during WWII while the third is set in Vietnam in 1969.
Also, I’m expanding and editing a book, Ice Queen, which started out as a series of micro short stories (200-500 words) which a publisher, to remained unnamed, is interested in seeing
when completed. I’ve recently completed a short story for AP that will be part of a pet charity release along with several other authors. If that isn’t enough I’ve got an Emily Dahill Series book that I’m working on. This will be in the range of 60,000 words when finished.
Remember earlier I mentioned that I might delve into writing a regency romance. Well, I’ve got an idea for a Christmas season book based on guideline set forth by AP.
Name one thing readers would be surprised to know about you.
LINDSAY: Besides living with a dog I also have a cat.

Name your top three writing goals?
LINDSAY: 1-I would love to say that one of my goals is to write bestseller after bestseller but really I want to write books that people of all ages love to read.
2-Be able to write 5,000 words a day and keep them all. For now I’ll settle for 1,000 words though
3-Be respected by my peers.

Great goals, If you had a warning label, what would it say?
LINDSAY: Warning: loves to kill people.
LOL, If you had the chance to meet one of your characters privately, who would it be and what would you do?
LINDSAY: I think the character I’d love to meet is only known as the ‘brown-haired man’. To be honest I, even as the author, don’t even know exactly who he is. I have several possible individuals who he could be but haven’t pinned it down to a specific person yet.

Want I’d like to know from him-why is he so determined to kill Emily?
What is the naughtiest thing you’ve ever done?
LINDSAY: If I told you the naughtiest thing I’d ever done either Homeland Security, the FBI or CIA would haul me off and I’d never be heard from again.
LOL, I'd like to thank Lindsay for joining us today. For those of you who would like to learn more about Lindsay and her work she can be reached through these links:
Please enjoy this excerpt:

Wallie stretched out a hand for the menus, but she quickly returned the one for the Chinese restaurant. “We get a couple of pizzas, and then we can eat and work at the same time.” She slanted a look to Emily. “You know what Dakota’s like with Chinese noodles.”

Everyone laughed, except Annabelle who didn’t understand the joke, as they remembered the last time they’d had Chinese and Dakota got into the lo mein noodles. “Annabelle, it’s really very simple,” Emily started. “You know dogs, when given people food will take mouthfuls—well,
Dakota didn’t. He ate the noodles like a child does spaghetti, sucking one strand at a time into his mouth. Several strands even slapped him on the muzzle, which startled him but didn’t deter him from partaking in the meal his way.”

“Yes, pizza,” Annabelle said with a wide grin.

“Yeah,” Emily said as she gave her buddy a scratch behind the ear. “And it looks like you’re the volunteer, Wallie, since you’ve got the phone number. Order three large, and you know what we like.”

“Anything but anchovies,” Annabelle interjected quickly.

Wallie looked back at her, nodded, then reached in her pocket for her cell. Emily rose from the antique oak straight‑back chair, and looked around the room. A look of frustration painted on her face as she took in all the bookshelves. “Annabelle, is there any other place where the blueprints might be? What about the first room on the right as you come in the front door? That one’s had the most renovations done to it.” Everyone except Wallie, who was still ordering, trooped back down the hall to the room in question. Emily decided the search would go faster if each person took a wall. She had Annabelle checking under the tarps.
~GIVEAWAY TIME~
LINDSAY:

One person will win a copy of any of my books in either Kindle or Nook format (winners choice) and ten (10) Emily Dahill Series trading cards. All you have to do is leave a comment with your email address so I can contact you.
** The WINNER will be announced on Monday May 28, 2012

Labelle Books reviews Allison Cassatta's Chief of Thrones...

BLURB:

Cameal only wants to feel the touch of a woman’s body against his. He only wants to feel… something, but for the Chief of Thrones—one of heaven’s most powerful Ophanim—any form of earthly desire is against the rules. For thirteen centuries, that rule wasn’t a problem. Then Uriel introduced him to life on earth and that’s when Cam discovered his addiction to women. But his earthly partners never fully sated him and it wasn’t until God delivered his punishment that he fully understood why.

It takes finding the raven-haired beauty the angels on earth call “Mary” to make the Chief of Thrones realize what he truly wants. Now he has to decide what he’s willing to sacrifice to finally feel whole. Will he endure excruciating torture to forget her or will he risk their lives to have her?

JENNIFER's REVIEW:

Gods very own chief of thrones, Camael, is addicted to carnal desires of the flesh, and will stop at nothing to fulfill it. The only problem, it's against the rules, and although pleasurable he's never fully sated and longs to find the one to complete him.

After god delivers a punishment that leaves Camael stuck on Earth, he finally begins to understand why, and it isn't until he meets the virtuous 'Mary' that he realizes what he truly wants... and it's her. But, it's not as simple as it sounds. Is Camael willing to endure the torture of forgetting about her, or will he risk everything to be with her throughout eternity?

Chief of Thrones is the first of many, Allison Cassatta, books that I intend to read. The sex is smokin' hot,the unique plot captured my interest immediately, and held until the bittersweet end. So, if you're in need of a scorching erotic paranormal short then I definitely recommend this read.

Helgaleena is looking for Reader Reviews- FREE COPIES, find out how to get yours...

Looking for a new MMF paranormal menage?
Check out Helgaleena's interview and find out how you can review her latest release 'The Incredible Heidi Wasabi'. Check it out!
Blurb:

Shakti or succubus? Faithful spouse or figment of the imagination? Whatever she is, Rufus and Steen would not have made a grand success in their chosen profession, as the stars of the heavy metal band Virgen Steel, without Heidi. And they probably never would have gotten married - to each other, anyway. This is their incredible story.
Welcome, Helgaleena, how long have you been an author?

Helgaleena: I have been writing erotic romances since 2003 online, as fan-fiction. But I got as much, if not more, satisfaction out of helping other authors perfect their stories. From there I went into professional editing and helped to found Dark Roast Press in 2008. When there was a gap in an anthology I supplied short tales, until now I am the proud parent of my first original romance novel.

At Dark Roast my short stories can be found in Forbidden Views anthology, My Dark Roasted Valentine anthology, Dark Roasted Christmas volume 2 anthology, & The Dark Season anthology. I am credited as co-author with S M Bach on the paranormal future-fic romance in
space, Harmony. But my pride and joy is my paranormal heavy metal MMF novel, The Incredible Heidi Wasabi.
Congratulations, *grins* what is your favourite genre?

Helgaleena: To read, I will try just about anything, from mycology or medieval history to Sports Illustrated to Barbara Cartland. I also periodically read in other languages to keep up my comprehension. But when it comes to writing, it’s got to be Happily Ever After. I believe in the healing power of romance, all pairings, all settings.

If someone hasn't read any of your work, what book would you recommend they start with and why?

I think you should start with my fan-fiction, because it’s free to read on the web, and displays a greater variety of situations than I have been able to explore in my published work so far. For your convenience, muwahaha, I have limited myself to Star Wars, but it’s still a big galaxy, and I have explored love between alien species, ménage, multi-gender, different ages of the same characters, and all eras of the Lucas-approved saga. Most of them are at The Archive at the End of the Universe http://www.the-archive.net/viewuser.php?uid=122 , as well as various fanfiction communities at Livejournal. http://hlglne.livejournal.com/

I’m pretty proud of a fiction challenge devoted to Quinlan Vos, a Jedi who appeared in on scene of The Phantom Menace and was expanded by Jon Ostrander and Jan Duursema of Dark Horse Comics into a multi-volume phenomenon. Lucas loved what they came up with so much he wrote
Quinlan Vos into the next two films. And so did I! The site is called The Quinlan Vos One Hundred Fanfics Project, and includes a chapter arc “Jaxxon’s Twi’leks” which fills in a gap between Quin’s first comic book appearance and the first film appearance. http://community.livejournal.com/quinlanvos100

What is the biggest surprise you’ve discovered about the writing process?

Helgaleena: Inspiration is so very fickle. My nature is a polishing nature; it’s easy for me to see structure and ‘perfect’ the work once it’s there, but when it comes to original action and plot, my well runs dry more often than I would like. I thank the writing gods for editing, which gives me access to the wonderful stories of other authors, even reviewers, to keep my literary brain feeling useful!

Can you tell us about one of your current works in progress?

Helgaleena: My main WIP has been my editing blog empire. Currently I contribute to GLBT Promo, The Pagan and the Pen, and Dark Roast Press Livejournal. I have my own editing blog, ‘Helgaleena says’, http://helgaleena.blogspot.com/ They also expect me to be our DarkRoasted loudmouth at Facebook, so I pass on our news to the romance and paranormal promo groups there, and keep our Facebook page tidy. You will see Helga the Hutt’s icon quite a bit there, especially at our very own open promo group, Dark Roast Press Lovers. It’s free to join and
share news of anything ‘dark, roasted & pressed’, including delicious erotic romances, whether ours or others!

But my favourite just now is the Dark Roast Press Lovers Daily. It’s a cross between Twitter and Pinterest and Tumblr put out by Paper.li where I get to showcase those DarkRoasters who ‘tweet’. One of our lucky authors is in the spotlight each issue with links to all their books with us. I get to slip in all sorts of other news and commentary too. http://paper.li/f-1322418561

Name one thing readers would be surprised to know about you.

Helgaleena: My hair is in dreadlocks like Quinlan Vos, but because it is wheat-coloured I have dedicated it to the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Name your top three writing goals?
Helgaleena: I would like to have one million readers, of anything by Helgaleena.
I want the words ‘fuck you’ to lose their insulting nature in our minds and become permanently endearing.
I wish to continue to heal lines until the lines heal us all, and words of love
are the key.
******************************************************************************
I'd like to thank Helgaleena for joining us today for those of you who would like to learn more about Helgaleena and her work she can be reached through these sites:

The Incredible Heidi Wasabi, MMF paranormal

Rufus Dixon grew up in rural West Virginia and even though he put himself through folk music school, he's got some working-class attitudes when it comes to making a living at it that drive him into rock'n'roll, and eventually into heavy metal. Like many in the metal scene he parties hard and that means plenty of sex, more than most of us mortals require, with men as well as women. Thank goodness for self-gratification, and the rubber lady he nicknames 'Heidi'.

It's a step up career-wise when the European transplants Virgen Steel, whose sound includes folk-infused strings and whose stage shows include fencing and theatrics, take Rufus on. Bassist Steen Herren needs a front man because he keeps alienating them and overpowering them. Soon they're dueling onstage, literally, as well as taking it out on one another with their fists in the bar afterwards. If it weren't for the music, and some strange chemistry beyond that--Excerpt: 286 words...

'It didn’t come as a great surprise to Herren when one of those drunken spats among the cigarette butts and puddles of beer in the wee hours got them both hard. But Dixon
was looking at him like he’d never seen him properly before. He was merely shaking Steen, not pounding him on the bar floor any longer. Blue and hazel-green eyes, one rapidly swelling shut, managed to meet and lock for a crucial second. It gave the bouncer an opportunity to grab hold of them and throw them both out.

Once they were both on their feet in the alley, Steen pulled Rufus up by the leather jacket and kissed him, kissed the taste of his own blood off Rufus’ teeth and let his lower lip be seized and savaged by the singer’s massive jaws.

My man was in shock. Sure, Rufus the Rude had enjoyed both girls and boys in all his years with bands. But why was he sparking with Steen? The guy had three kids with Anna and another on the way. Yet there was more to Steen than most knew. Rufus had been to his Solstice services. The man was even consultant on that horror film Lunasad. That’s why he’d asked his advice on ‘astral beings’, trying to get a handle on what I was. Did Steen really want to do this or was he just trying to keep the Virgens from splitting up?

So he was tempted to use that reddish goatee for a handle and pry open Steen’s mouth but he did not. He let the kiss take its course and the fire it wanted to start die down. He was breathing like a bellows but he backed off.
HELGALEENA:

I am not exactly doing a ‘giveaway’-- what I will give is a free copy of Heidi Wasabi to any who will faithfully promise to leave a review of it at Goodreads! Contact me there (I have included the url to my Goodreads author page) and I will gladly give out a review copy free of charge.

Layla tries to continue to live her life as normal, however, things turn bad when Layla and Nikalye discover something and Layla has to fight for her life, putting everyone in serious danger.
Layla is on the lookout now, and the only distraction is Shade. When he speaks, when he breathes down her neck and touches her, she cannot remember anything but him. When they get
intimate, it is all she can do to keep herself breathing as he pleasures her. She cannot understand how they both react so strongly with each other, but she does not care.
Yet she feels as though something is going to go horribly wrong, not with Shade and herself, but
something else, something bigger…and she is not wrong.
It is worse than before and Layla has no choice now but to reveal whom she really is, and risk everyone hating her for the rest of her time in the academy. What is her secret?
Welcome, Natalie, How long have you been an author?
NATALIE: I’ve been an author since September, though my first book wasn’t published until February 1st. I have been writing for a lot longer though.

Congratulations, what is your favourite genre?
NATALIE: Paranormal Romance is my favourite genre, especially if they’re about vampires.
*grins* I love a good paranormal myself, and your books sounds great. If someone hasn't read any of your work, what book would you recommend they start with and why?
NATALIE: Eternal Darkness I would recommend because it is the first in the Cursed in Darkness Series and it was the first book I ever published.

What is the biggest surprise you’ve discovered about the writing process?
NATALIE: The biggest shock? Hmmm the Logline. It has to be different for each book, and I never knew that. I went from having one Logline for my entire series, to thinking of a Logline for each book. I managed it, but it wasn’t easy.

Can you tell us about one of your current works in progress?
NATALIE: Only one? Pleasures of the Soul is one of my current works I’m doing, though I am switching in between books at the minute. Pleasures of the Soul will be my first third person Erotic Vampire Paranormal Romance book. I’ve had to ask for help writing this one because my Cursed in Darkness series is in first person. It was hard getting the hang of going from first person to third person.
Name one thing readers would be surprised to know about you.
NATALIE: I’m a true believer of all things supernatural. I believe there are vampires out there, werewolves, demons etc. I hope to meet one, one day.
Interesting, name your top three writing goals?
NATALIE: Write, write, write? Can I say that? No, for me, when I’m writing, I always tell myself that I need to plan, take my time and write at least 5k a day. Whether I stick to them is another question!
If you had a warning label, what would it say?
NATALIE: Warning: Nutcase!
LOL, If you had the chance to meet one of your characters privately, who would it be
and what would you do?
NATALIE: As much as I would want to meet the hot vampires from my books, I would meet my main character, Layla and I would ask her to train me how to be a badass fighter like she is.
That would be awesome. Now, what is the naughtiest thing you’ve ever done?
NATALIE: Okay, so I’m going to be seriously blunt here. The naughtiest thing I’ve ever done... Reece (partner) and I were driving home one night and, because we were feeling a little adventurous and because we live—literally—in the middle of nowhere, thought we would stop the car and... Well have some great fun really. You ever see Titanic? That bit where Rose and Jack do the dirty in that cab and everything has steamed over so when she slams her hand on the window, it’s still there when the guards search the place? Well I didn’t do that, but the car was so steamed up by the time we had finished, we had to open all the doors for around twenty minutes before we could drive back home.
I bet, *chuckles* I'd like to thank Natalie for joining us today. For thos eof you who would like to learn more about Natalie and her work she can be reached through these sites:

Dark Shadows Excerpt:

I jumped over a fallen tree and stopped suddenly with my heart hammering in my chest and sweat breaking out across my forehead.

“Mi Belleza Oscura, stay back,” Nikalye murmured, touching my shoulder.
I did as he said but did not take my eyes away as Nikalye walked forward slowly, looking around for any signs of danger. He bent and put his hand out.
“It is vampire, Nikalye,” I said. Nikalye lifted his hand back up and then walked towards me. He grasped my arm, to no doubt take me out of the clearing and to safety, when he sucked in a breath, his eyes turning white.

“They will come soon, dressed in black, their faces hidden,” Nikalye spoke in Spanish. “They seek the one who ran from them, they seek revenge. Blood will be split.”

“Nikalye,” I spoke quietly and calmly. “When will this happen?”

“When the sun is at its highest point, and the light shines down upon the land. They will come.” Nikalye’s eyes fluttered and he closed them before opening them. They were back to their normal colour. He grasped my upper arms tight enough to make me gasp.

“Nikalye,” I said.

"You must go inside, do not come out.”

“Okay, Nikalye,” I said quickly, knowing not to fight him with this.

“Come, we must leave.”

“But what about—”

“I will send someone out to search. We have to find him or her.”

I swallowed and looked over his shoulder. It was bad. The fact that there was no body made it worse. We did not know whom or when the attack happened and if they were still alive or dead. Judging by the pool of blood, shining even in the darkness and teasing me with its scent, I thought the latter.

Promoting with Avril Ashton

Thanks to Jennifer Labelle for having me over today. I had two books released last week, two days apart and I swear to you, the promotion had me tearing my hair out. There’s just not enough time in the day to write, and promote, and read, and let’s not even count fitting family time into the jumbled mess.
For someone who doesn’t much care for the promo-ing side of things, it’s especially painful. I try to put myself on a schedule to promote, only certain days, certain sites, certain this. Certain that. Not too sure it makes a difference, it’s still time I’d rather spend writing. Or reading.

Of course, promotion is a necessary evil. It comes with the territory, so even as I give it the evil eye and moan and groan, it needs to be done, right? I haven’t figured out the perfect ratio, not yet, and I still don’t know the magic formula or button that works better than others, so I’m still plugging on.

With all the social networking sites out there, it’s really easy to get spread too thin. To over promote and bombard readers with your stuff. Yes, over exposure is a bad thing. As a reader, I find myself hastily deleting and rolling my eyes at authors like that. I never want to be in that position. As of yet I’m still on the fence as to which is the greater sin, no promotion or too much of it.

I limit myself to Facebook and Twitter, sparingly, and a handful of Yahoo! groups. I also send out a newsletter, though, I’ve been remiss in doing even that the past few months. Listen, I need more hours in the day.

I really do.

Blurbs for my two latest releases, both M/M romance.

Ryken melts under the intense attraction between him and Saint, but the man keeps pushing him away, denying their connection. A Caribbean transplant, Avril now lives in Brooklyn, N.Y with a tolerant Spousal Equivalent. Together they raise an eccentric daughter who loves reading and school (not so much school anymore). Avril’s earliest memories of reading revolve around discussing plot points of The Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys with an equally book-minded mother.

Always in love with the written word, Avril finally decided to do the writing in August of ’09 and never looked back. Spicy love scenes, delicious heroes, and wicked women burn up the pages of Avril’s stories, but there’ll always be a happy ending; Av remains a believer of love in all its forms.

An Interview & Giveaway with Kathleen Ball

Callie Daniels' mother has one dying wish. She wants neighboring rancher, Garrett O'Neill, to marry her seventeen-year-old daughter. Callie knows it’s not supposed to be a conventional marriage. Garrett O'Neill would keep Callie's ranch safe and Callie would go away to college.

Four years later, Callie comes home with stars in her eyes and happily ever after in her heart. She plans to make their marriage real until finds the new housekeeper, Sylvie in Garrett's arms.
Heartbroken, Callie moves out. She sustains injuries from her horse and Garrett forces Callie to move back in to his house.

Callie finally gets her heart's desire. Alone in a line shack, they make sweet love for the first time. Unfortunately, the love light is gone from Garret's eyes the next morning.
Welcome Kathleen, how long have you been an author?
Kathleen: Three years

Congratulations, what is your favourite genre?
Kathleen: Western Romance
I love a good western romance myself, heck I love the romance genre period...lol
So um....
If someone hasn't read any of your work, what book would you recommend they start with and why?
Kathleen: Callie’s Heart is my debut novel. It is book one in The Lasso Springs Series.

Callie's Heart sounds like a great read, and from what I've read of the blurb so far, pretty emotional too. What is the biggest surprise you’ve discovered about the writing process?
Kathleen: That people actually like what I write. I never expected such positive reactions and comments.
It certainly is an amazing feeling, isn't it? It makes the hard work of every writer worthwhile. I love it!

Can you tell us about one of your current works in progress?
Kathleen: I’m releasing four books this year and one scheduled for next year. When I’m not editing I’m working on Summer’s Desire. I post a new excerpt every week on http://tuesdaytales1.blogspot.com/

I'll have to go check it out. *grins* Name one thing readers would be surprised to know about you.
Kathleen: I love Jersey Shore-- it’s my guilty pleasure
LOL, name your top three writing goals:
Kathleen:
1) To have my ebook in print
2)To be able to go to a writer’s convention
3) To keep making great friends through writing
Those are some great goals, I have no doubt you'll one day accomplish. *rubs hands together* Now, if you had a warning label, what would it say?
Kathleen: Don’t talk until she’s had her coffee
*grins* If you had the chance to meet one of your characters privately, who would it be and what would you do?
Kathleen: I fall in love with each of my hunky cowboys. I’d just love them to take their shirts off and show their abs.
Yummy, I'd like to thank Kathleen for joining us today. For those of you who would like to learn more about Kathleen or her work, here are the links she can be contacted through:
Now, for the giveaway: Kathleen has offered a copy of Callie's Heart to one lucky commenter. So leave a comment with your email address for a chance to win it. The winner will be announced tomorrow morning (May 12), but before you rush off to do so please enjoy the brief excerpt below:

He filled out wranglers like no one else. His blue western shirt wasn't as tight as some cowboys wore theirs, but Callie knew that he was buff with six-pack abs. He'd taken his shirt off a lot last summer and she never shied away from looking. Her expression must have shown her sorrow,
the look of sympathy Garrett gave her made her stomach turn. Somehow, she had to get him out of her system.

How she planned to accomplish it, she had no idea. She never dated before and she didn't have any female friends to ask. Callie knew she was on her own with this one.
Pasting on a smile, Callie went to the horse trailer and looked inside. She recognized Garrett's roan, Tiger, but she didn't recognize the beautiful silver filly. Smiling a real smile, Callie got in the trailer and talked to the silver horse. She formed an instant connection to the filly.

''Whose horse is this?''

Garrett helped back the filly out of the trailer before answering. He looked right into Callie's eyes. ''She's all yours honey.''

''I don't understand,'' she said, not taking her eyes off his.

''It's your graduation present.''

''Oh.''

She didn't want a horse because he had a guilty conscious. He didn't know how hurt she'd been. All through graduation, she kept scanning the crowd for his handsome face and she never found it. The worst part was the pity in her roommate, Gretchen's, eyes. Gretchen's parents had offered
to take Callie out to dinner, but she couldn't celebrate. His absence devastated her. She spent the night packing and crying her eyes out. She should have known that he had someone else. That it hadn't occurred to her only emphasized how stupid she'd been.

GIVEAWAYS GALORE! It's the Erotic Romance Madness Hop by The Romance Reviews

Yay, the Erotic Romance Madness Hop has finally arrived. Not only do I write erotic Romances, but I absolutely love to read them too. With that being said, I was asked to showcase one erotic romance for you all, which was extremely difficult for me. Of course I want to promote my work, right? What author doesn't, but there are also so many of my favorite authors to choose from too. Picking just one is so hard...lol
So I thought maybe I'd treat you all to a few of my most recent reads that tie in well with some of the stuff I write. Namely, emotional, exotic, really well written, have unsuspecting plot twists, and of course smoking hot sex. *wiggles eyebrows up and down*
As most of you know I showcase different authors on the blog all the time, have giveaways on a weekly basis, and participate in blog hops as much as I possibly can. So I hope you enjoy this post, the blog hop, and the prizes I'm about to announce, but before I do please enjoy the short snippets below.
Love a good romance story with sizzle? Then you'll love these ones:

If you like a great emotional romance with sizzling loving, I recently finished this amazing love story by Jean C. Joachim Now and Forever 2: The Book of Danny and was completely blown away by it.

This another book that I enocurage you to read. Who knew that one naughty dare could lead to a lifetime of passion? Ms. Nation is fabulous when it comes to instantly hooking a reader from the very beginning, and knows how to draw out the right amount of emotion along the way. I'm not sure I've cried this much over a book in my life...lol

This is the second book I've read in this Valerie Doulgas series about a group of four friends, Ali, Cam, Maggie and Jesse who didn't have a normal family life, but found each other and made their own. This one is Ali's Story. It's about exploring desire, fulfilling dreams and I liked that the heroine saves the hero at the end for a change. Did I mention that the hero is a sexy Irish hottie? Now, who doesn't love a hard bodied male with an accent? *grins*
Now how about adding sexy, emotional, and Irish all into one?
TISSUE WARNING! I absolutely hate books that make me cry, let alone in the first chapter! But this book changed all that! I loved every moment and every tear! From the first page, Jenna and Tyler capture your heart with a rollercoaster of emotions that are real and relatable to all of us. I felt like I was living in their shoes. Not many books can do that, and Jennifer Labelle hit a home run on all counts. Meant To Be is an engrossing read that makes you yell for more!

A Giveaway & a Guest Post with Sara York: Angels and Demons with a Twist, Anyone?

I want to thank Jennifer for having me on her blog today. Please leave a comment below about your favourite angel or demon, and I’ll choose one winner to receive an ecopy of Fire and Ice.

**Don't forget to leave your email address when you do so...**

When I started writing Fire and Ice I didn’t want to write just another angel and demons story, I wanted a twist. Not just another fallen angel, but one who had the tables turned on him. Lash is really an angel in a demons body.

Lash is not the best looking demon on the block either. Rafe is and Rafe wants to win. The prize--choosing his form for the rest of eternity. Lash knows he’s at a disadvantage and his soul is tortured being inside the demon’s casing. His soul rebels against the body housing him.

Doing research for Fire and Ice led me to some interesting places. Angel and demon mythology is broad and deep. Of course not everyone exactly agrees so I had to choose a particular mythos. You’ll see a few familiar names, like Michael but you’ll also meet Jophiel, the angel of judgement, and Puriel, the angel of punishment.

I would love to tackle another angels and demons book in the future. I enjoyed creating Lash and Rafe though working in the confines of a particular mythos proved difficult at times. My angels aren’t perfect and my demons are just bad boys waiting for a chance to strike. I hope you enjoy Fire and Ice.
Blurb for Fire and Ice

How can an angel win the woman of his heart when he’s trapped in a demon’s body?
With Raphael’s soul ripped from his angelic body, he’s forced to inhabit the demon Lash’s ugly form until he can help Alexandria overcome her anger and forgive. Raphael’s been in love with Alexandria for decades and wants her, but he’s Lash now and despises his new body. How could anyone fall in love with him, much less the beautiful Alexandria?

Alexandria doesn’t know what’s gotten into her. Rafe is the man of her dreams but when she touches Lash a firestorm of desire is unleashed... She has to have him. Confusion about her desires leaves her vulnerable to the evil fate Rafe has planned for her.

Can the angel in demon form, Lash, fight off Rafe and save Alexandria from hell and himself from eternal punishment of living as a demon?

Chapter One

Raphael had known he’d made a mistake the minute he’d reached down and touched Alexandria, bringing her back to life, but he hadn’t thought the punishment would be this harsh. He loved the woman and hadn’t been able to stop himself from interfering. All he’d needed was more time to get to know her, but if she’d died she would have been lost to him in the human afterlife.

Now he lay prostrate in the Court of Angels, his wings vibrating with fear and anger at himself. How could God have let this happen? He hadn’t done anything that bad, just saved one girl.

“The sentence shall be read,” Michael’s voice boomed over the assembly.

Jophiel, the Angel of Judgment, banged the gavel and spoke. “The all-knowing, all-seeing God has decided, based on the crime described in the notes, that Raphael knowingly and willingly interfered in God’s divine and perfect will. Thus his soul shall be taken from his body, denying him his angelic powers and form, and placed in the earthly body of Lahash, the Deceiver.”

Raphael groaned, his wings collapsed over his outstretched arms, hiding his body from the court. He wasn’t deceiving any of them, but he needed the comfort and security the thick wings provided. He hadn’t been without his wings in forever, but now he would be stripped of his position and his rights. Why had he interfered?

The image of Alexandria filled his mind, the most perfect woman he’d ever seen. He hadn’t been able to resist rescuing her.

Jophiel continued reading. “Raphael will be sent to Earth to redeem himself.”
Raphael looked up, his eyes bright. He could redeem himself—at least he had hope, and he would do whatever it took to win back his wings.

Welcome, Donya, how long have you been an author?

Donya: That's a tough question, because I've been writing since I was in grade school. I won my first writing contest in fourth grade for a short story about animals who rescued a kidnapped boy. My prize? A pack of Hubba Bubba bubble gum. LOL. I was on my way, I tell ya! I started writing romantic and erotic stories in junior high and high school, and developed a flair for vampires even back then. I remember a book I read called Monday's Child. I still remember the cover. I think that was my first exposure to a vampire book and it fascinated me. After I saw The Lost Boys, I became infatuated with David (Kiefer Sutherland) and started writing snippets about his character. However, it wasn't until January of this year that I officially decided I was an author. That's when I made the decision to write full time and make a career out of what I'd done for fun since I was a little girl.

Congratulations, what is your favourite genre?

Donya: Romance, in general. Within the category of romance, I tend to prefer paranormal and erotic over contemporary. However, I am branching out my reading choices to include more contemporary and literary pieces, as well as thriller, suspense, and drama, as a means to improve my own writing. I'm very excited about reading a new author (new for me, anyway), M. J. Rose, and I just bought her book, The Hypnotist. She has an amazing way of capturing the reader's attention from the first paragraph. I want to study how she writes. I also read a lot of nonfiction as research for my own books. How's that for a non-specific answer? LOL.

It's great, If someone hasn't read any of your work, what book would you recommend they start with and why?

Donya: I would recommend they start with Rise of the Fallen, because that is my first non-anthology published piece and represents the kind of writing I prefer doing (lots of angst, conflict, tension, action, and romance). Right now, I don't have a lot published, but by the end of May, book two of the AKM series will be out, and by the end of June, my first novella will be published through Silver Publishing. By the end of the year, I will have two more short stories published in anthologies, and hopefully (fingers crossed) two more novels, one being book three of the AKM series. So, it's a busy first year as an official "author." *smile*

Congratulations again, it looks like you've got great start. What is the biggest surprise you’ve
discovered about the writing process?

Donya: I can't say I've been surprised about any of it, really. I studied with a few published authors before I made the decision to be an author, and I've also done a lot of independent research, so I had a good idea what to expect. I guess you could say I came in with a plan and awareness, so I haven't been caught off guard by much. The only thing that did throw me off a little was the overwhelming response I received after releasing Rise of the Fallen. I figured I would publish that book and be able to get back to writing the next day. Huh-uh. LOL. It was a full two weeks before things calmed down enough for me to even think about writing again, and another week after that before I actually did. That experience taught me to schedule at least a couple of weeks of not much writing after a book is released, because staying in touch with fans is super critical during that time. I loved it, don't get me wrong. It just caught me off guard. I wasn't expecting it.

Can you tell us about one of your current works in progress?

Donya: I just laughed right out loud. A nice raucous laugh. LOL. Because, I have so many projects in the hopper right now, it's mind-boggling. In a good way, though. With that said, the most obvious work in progress is Heart of the Warrior, which is book two of AKM, which means it's the follow-up to Rise of the Fallen. I LOVED writing this book (it's in final edits now). This is the first book I've written that I actually enjoyed re-reading on my first edit. I NEVER enjoy reading my own work on the first edit, but I did this one. It focuses on the relationship we see hints of in Rise of the Fallen between Arion and Severin. These two are such tormented, damaged characters, who have so many secrets between them, that I found myself crying and laughing in turns as I wrote the story. I love tackling controversial subjects, and homosexuality is a huge one. And I let loose in Heart of the Warrior in this area. On one hand, I'm worried how HOTW will be received because it addresses homosexuality. Will people be turned off by the subject matter? Will they spurn the entire series because I have a couple of gay characters? I hope not, because this is what the characters wanted. This is what they showed me. I will never go against what my
characters show me they want, and I fell in love with these two characters for pouring themselves out the way they did. If there are people who will get upset by this, I can't help that. But I owed it to Sev and Ari to tell their story their way. But, if you love a good, tragic love story, and don't mind that it's about two male characters, bring your Kleenex when you buy this book. It could make you cry. Oh, and we still get a good dose of Micah and the other AKM characters, as well.

It sounds great. Name one thing readers would be surprised to know about you.

Donya: That I used to be a body builder and was studying to be a personal trainer before blowing out my back three-and-a-half years ago. Those days are gone now, but I still have my writing.

Wow, I'm speechless. I'm sorry you thre your back, but we're certainly happy you persued your writing career Rise of the Fallen sounds like a great read. Name your top three writing goals?

Donya: In no particular order, my top three writing goals are: 1) To see the AKM novels in print someday; 2) To sell 100,000 books by the end of next year; 3) To never have to work outside the home again because my writing earns enough to pay the bills.

Those are some great goals, good luck! If you had a warning label, what would it
say?

Donya: WARNING: Socially Awkward – LOL.

If you had the chance to meet one of your characters privately, who would it be and what would you do?

Donya: I would meet Micah, for sure, and I would have him teach me how to be a Dom. I think we'd also talk a lot. Micah is very talkative in my head. He's always got something to say. He's very quick-witted, too, which I am not. (naughty thought: I want to practice the massage techniques on him that I'm learning about as research for another character. *evil grin* -- can you see him all slicked with massage oil? *bites lip*)

LOL, What is the naughtiest thing you’ve ever done?

Donya: Ooooo, hehehe. I'm not sure I should answer this one. Actually, I feel I've lived a very tame life. I did have an affair with a married man a long time ago. I can't say I regret it, because it made me who I am today, but I'm not that person, anymore. I couldn't do that now. We all make mistakes. The difference between me and some people is that I actually learn from mine. Maybe I should write about that relationship. Hmm.

Maybe, I'll leave that up to you. *grins*

But before you rush off to do so, please enjoy this excerpt:

Micah lay on the ground, looking up at the light shining down like a mockery of the light he had hoped to see as he entered the afterlife and took his final walk into Heaven, or whatever awaited a vampire when he died.

Noooo…nooooo! He was still alive. Someone had saved him. Why? Why had someone interfered? All he wanted was to die. Just die and be done with his horrible, wretched life.

The scent of lilacs, subtle and feminine, wafted over him like angelic perfume as the woman who had saved him against his will knelt beside him.

"Hey…hey, can you hear me? Can you move? What's your name? Can you tell me your
name?"

Her intoxicating voice soothed him instantly, but Micah couldn't see her as he blinked against the bright light.

"Who are you?" He groaned, his entire body protesting his attempt to talk.

"I'm going to save you."

As she bent over him, the overhead light formed a halo around her head as it shone through her spiky blond hair and shadowed her face. The smell of lilacs grew even stronger, pleasing Micah's senses.

Whoever she was, she looked, smelled, and sounded like an angel.
