The Progeny Series and a GIVEAWAY with Ashlynne Laynne

I’d first like to thank Jennifer for welcoming me to her blog again. I truly love it here at Labelle Books. Today, I’m premiering an exclusive HOT excerpt from the upcoming Blood Bonds. This will be the only blog that gets this excerpt. I recently decided to arc over into more erotic type writing after a writer, much wiser than myself, told me that she sensed me holding back. Hope you enjoy the excerpt and leave a comment for the chance to win a digital copy of Blood Bonds when it releases next month.

The Progeny Blurb (The Progeny Series #1)

“No fate other than the one I choose.”

The timeless creed, and tattoo, bore by the Rousseau’s— a vampire clan with the purest bloodline of any vampire family. Out of this clandestine group came one who was different, yet the same: Ascher-a half-bloodling— half- human, half vampire.

Ascher questions the purpose for his existence and which world he truly belongs to: the human world or the vampire world. Two months from sealing to Ursula— a prearranged union to a woman he abhors — he’s at his wit’s end. He knows if he calls off the sealing, the Romanian clan will strike with deadly force, but he cannot see eternity with a cold empty shell of a woman like Ursula.

Just when he thought life was complicated enough, he meets Shauna— a beautiful, bi-racial human Wiccan — and immediately develops an unshakable attraction to her. She makes him feel alive and vital despite his origins and Ascher makes a decision that turns his immortal world upside down.

Blood Bonds Blurb (The Progeny Series #2)

“Forever. For always. For eternity.”

The ties that bind two hearts are powerful. For Ascher Rousseau and Shauna McCutchin, it’s more than just a blood bond. Their union is that of vampire legend. Their love is a predestined prophecy foretold centuries ago.

It’s a week before Ascher and Shauna's sealing and the couple is making final preparations for their eternity, but Ascher's ex has other plans. Ursula is hell-bent on revenge—revenge fueled by lover's scorn and her father's death—and she begins breeding a fresh army of newborn darklings to do her bidding.

When Ursula finds a new weapon—an ally with the capability to dismantle the Rousseau clan— Ascher and Shauna's bond is tested and they must stand together against Ursula or lose each other for eternity.

Exclusive Excerpt from Blood Bonds (The storms of love)

“You don’t have to wait for your changing to strip me,” he suggested, raising himself to a sitting position. “Besides, we should probably get you out of those wet clothes.”

Her face flushed a deep shade of red. I have to remember that he can read my mind. She tensed as his fingertips trailed her spine, sparking a shiver to join the vibration of heat already burning inside her, intensifying the leftover burn from the orb.

Fire and ice now coursed every sinew in her body, existing everywhere at once, just as pain and pleasure sometimes inhabited her when they made love—each exerting its will, refusing to be conquered. She felt powerful and submissive. He did that to her, made her conflicted and his morphing eyes did nothing to remedy that affliction.

He growled then grabbed her to him, claiming her mouth with his demanding kiss and impatient tongue. Her neck fell back in invitation, and he obliged her with tender kisses and gentle sucking against the soft skin while his touch sent sensual voltage to her core.

He flashed his bright red eyes as their bodies hovered and flipped with his body on top.

The sexual tension coursed heavy, shockwaves of current passing between them. Each touch was a jolt burning her wherever his fingers lingered. Clothing disappeared amidst a soundtrack of the
falling rain, ravenous moaning and the ripping of fabric. She didn’t care about anything but being closer to him and having his hands on her, their bodies together with no boundaries obstructing their passion. Her heart raced—beating so furiously that she thought she might have a heart attack. His deeply thrusting cock breached her aching pussy, fueling and quenching her yearning for him.

“More,” she pleaded in a voice thick and heady with hunger. She couldn’t get him close enough. No depth of penetration seemed to reach the fire blazing inside her. Her frustrated arms forced him closer, cementing their bodies until their pelvic bones rocked against one another. He was a perfect fit, completely filling her with the reassurance that their lovemaking always brought.

His body quivered as he pierced her with crimson colored eyes.

“Faster!” she demanded, thrusting her body against his, intensifying the strokes.

His breaths quickened as his eyes rolled in his head.

Twining her legs around his waist, she meshed him to her, squeezing herself around him. The tingle was there, taunting her, spurring the itch that only her orgasm could scratch. She wanted it and she wanted him deeper. “Deeper Ascher—deeper, I’m close. I’m so close.”

He plunged inside of her, the slow movements stirring and bringing her closer to the brink.

“Yes…yes…don’t stop!”

Ascher groaned, “Shauna,” through clenched teeth while clutching her hips to control her wild thrusting. “What’s with you tonight?”

He was stiff as steel, his heart hammering and pulsing out a pleading rhythm. She was anxious and squirmy, her nails tearing at his flesh. He’d never seen her so voracious. The pulsations inside her and the rough thrusting lashed at him, bringing him into the danger zone. She’s your human wife and you can’t hurt her. Slow things down. “Sweetheart, wait. I could hurt you.”

“You won’t hurt me. Don’t worry and whatever you do, don’t stop!” Her neck craned back, the skin taut and her carotid pulsating. “Oh, God.”

Thunder boomed outside.

She pulled his lips to hers, driving her tongue into his mouth. Each flick forced the fire closer to his shaft, the stiffness turning into an engorged type of pain. He was worried about hurting her but she was hurting him.

Lightning flashed outside and rain crashed against the window. The raging storm only mimicked the surge of adrenaline, hormones and fever erupting in him.

A string of demands flew from her mouth. “More…deeper…faster…don’t stop!”

His heart thundered as he pounded into her with everything he had, his head still foggy from the crash. He stroked her deeper, harder, with as much force as he could muster, the lightheadedness
blurring his thoughts and vision.

Release was coming—hers and his.

Another bolt of lightning flashed outside, striking a tree near the pool. A loud swoosh came as a limb plummeted into the water.

Goosebumps prickled the surface of his skin as her nails dug into his back. “Oh God, baby,” he murmured as the prickles became currents of pure ecstasy rushing along his nerves.

“Ah,” she moaned against his neck, gripping his ass to urge him deeper.

“You want me deeper?” he asked in a husky voice that signaled his nearing the edge of the precipice. He fought to restrain himself but found that his cock now had a mind of its own. He couldn’t stop. “Oh, fuck,” he whimpered as he delved deeper and pushed harder. In. Out. Each slick stroke forced more electricity to his spine, crushing his control and blurring his vision with blood. His head fell back as he felt himself swell inside her.

Shauna bent her legs, placing the soles of her feet on his shoulders, until her pussy completely enveloped him with its warm silkiness. “Come on, Ascher,” she moaned as her insides clenched, clamping down around him.

“It’s so good,” he groaned, darting his tongue into her mouth, absorbing the taste of her. “God, baby, you feel so fucking good.” His eyes rolled as he lost himself in the her. Climax erupted and exploded in his body, bringing a satisfying surge of relief.

He stilled, bringing her legs down and around his hips. Fixated eyes pierced hers as their mouths joined, his tongue imitating the slow circling of his hips. Dipping and probing—stroking in and

This relentless rhythm was the best way to draw out her release.

She moaned into his mouth and cried out, “Ascher,” as her body convulsed beneath him. The storm ceased with her orgasm, slowing as her heartbeat and breathing returned to normal—he’d never experienced anything like it.

About Ashlynne:
Ashlynne Laynne has always had a soft spot in her heart for vampires but grew tired of the garlic fearing, sun-loathing creatures of old. An avid horror movie fan, she tends to enjoy media and music that is of a younger, more eclectic nature. This was the catalyst for her writing The Progeny. The vampire/witch pairing is unique and different when most books pair vampires with werewolves.

Ashlynne loves writing on the edge and teetering between the erotica and romance genres, and thinks of Ascher and Shauna as the wicked, damned version of Romeo and Juliet. She is currently working on books three and four of her Progeny Series, book one of her upcoming Rocker Series, and an untitled novella WIP. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, reading and spending time with her family. She juggles the hats of wife, mother, full time employee and part-time writer, hoping to write full time one day soon.

Ashlynne lives in North Carolina with her husband and teenage son.

I'd like to thank Ashlynne for coming back on Labelle Books. I've read The Progeny and loved it so if you're looking for the next great paranormal romance to read, then I suggest you pick this one up. In the meantime, don't forget to follow this blog and comment with your email address to win a copy of Blood Bonds when it comes out next month.
Best wishes,
~Author Jennifer Labelle~

  1. I really enjoyed The Progeny, every page that I read was written in such a way that you could feel every emotion. The Progeny showed a different side of vampires. Ashelynne Lane showed that even vampires are capable of love compassion. I loved this book because it shows a human side to a savage beast that has portrayed as cold heartless countless time. I am looking forward to Blood Bonds because if the author has truly embraced her gift of writing Blood Bonds will be greater than the first.

    1. Thanks for dropping in, Anonymous, and I'm so glad that you enjoyed The Progeny. I sincerely hope that you'll love Blood Bonds, too.

  2.! What a hot excerpt.
I can hardly wait for B.B!!!

    1. Thanks for popping in, Brenda. I know you're super busy writing your own sequel. That excerpt was shocking, right? So very different than the scenes in The Progeny.

    2. Ashlynne, all I can say is HOT, HOT, HOT!

  3. WOW!!! Can't wait to get my hands on Blood Bonds.....that's my type of reading!!! Ashlynne, I'm so excited!!

    1. Thank you for dropping by, Sonya. I sent the final draft of Blood Bonds to my pub this morning so it shouldn't be long before it's ready for the masses.

  4. Terrific! !!!!!!! Hot,Hot,Steaming Hot. A Must Have Book! Can't. Wait to read it. Ashlynne, you go girl.Wow!!!

    1. Hi njb65. So glad you could stop in today. The love scenes in both books have a basic emotional element that I feel is so important for my couple. The toughest part of the process was adding spice and heat while keeping the integrity of their undying love for one another. Underneath the sex and passion are just a simple man and woman in love. Their supernatural abilities are second to this.

  5. I must to start the Progeny series. That excerpt was hot hot hot! I love it when books about vamps show their human feelings. It proves that not all vamps are bad.

    1. Thanks for dropping in, Patsy. I've never subscribed to the notion that vamps are emotionless. They were human once and some of that must carry over into their afterlife. Writing Ascher is a particular challenge because I have to balance the two halves of him. It wears me out sometimes because this guy is very conflicted about his existence. At the end of the day, it's worth it because I wanted him to be different and he's grown to be just that.

  6. I love reading about vampires. I really want to read this series. Please enter me in contest.

    1. Tore,

Thanks for dropping in. I've always loved vampires and stories about witches. When I began writing The Progeny, I knew that I'd combine my two paranormal loves. Sadly, I don't get to read many vamp books now that I'm writing my own.
