Helgaleena is looking for Reader Reviews- FREE COPIES, find out how to get yours...

Looking for a new MMF paranormal menage?
Check out Helgaleena's interview and find out how you can review her latest release 'The Incredible Heidi Wasabi'. Check it out!

Shakti or succubus? Faithful spouse or figment of the imagination? Whatever she is, Rufus and Steen would not have made a grand success in their chosen profession, as the stars of the heavy metal band Virgen Steel, without Heidi. And they probably never would have gotten married - to each other, anyway. This is their incredible story.
Welcome, Helgaleena, how long have you been an author?

Helgaleena: I have been writing erotic romances since 2003 online, as fan-fiction. But I got as much, if not more, satisfaction out of helping other authors perfect their stories. From there I went into professional editing and helped to found Dark Roast Press in 2008. When there was a gap in an anthology I supplied short tales, until now I am the proud parent of my first original romance novel.

At Dark Roast my short stories can be found in Forbidden Views anthology, My Dark Roasted Valentine anthology, Dark Roasted Christmas volume 2 anthology, & The Dark Season anthology. I am credited as co-author with S M Bach on the paranormal future-fic romance in
space, Harmony. But my pride and joy is my paranormal heavy metal MMF novel, The Incredible Heidi Wasabi.
Congratulations, *grins* what is your favourite genre?

Helgaleena: To read, I will try just about anything, from mycology or medieval history to Sports Illustrated to Barbara Cartland. I also periodically read in other languages to keep up my comprehension. But when it comes to writing, it’s got to be Happily Ever After. I believe in the healing power of romance, all pairings, all settings.

If someone hasn't read any of your work, what book would you recommend they start with and why?

I think you should start with my fan-fiction, because it’s free to read on the web, and displays a greater variety of situations than I have been able to explore in my published work so far. For your convenience, muwahaha, I have limited myself to Star Wars, but it’s still a big galaxy, and I have explored love between alien species, ménage, multi-gender, different ages of the same characters, and all eras of the Lucas-approved saga. Most of them are at The Archive at the End of the Universe , as well as various fanfiction communities at Livejournal.

I’m pretty proud of a fiction challenge devoted to Quinlan Vos, a Jedi who appeared in on scene of The Phantom Menace and was expanded by Jon Ostrander and Jan Duursema of Dark Horse Comics into a multi-volume phenomenon. Lucas loved what they came up with so much he wrote
Quinlan Vos into the next two films. And so did I! The site is called The Quinlan Vos One Hundred Fanfics Project, and includes a chapter arc “Jaxxon’s Twi’leks” which fills in a gap between Quin’s first comic book appearance and the first film appearance.

What is the biggest surprise you’ve discovered about the writing process?

Helgaleena: Inspiration is so very fickle. My nature is a polishing nature; it’s easy for me to see structure and ‘perfect’ the work once it’s there, but when it comes to original action and plot, my well runs dry more often than I would like. I thank the writing gods for editing, which gives me access to the wonderful stories of other authors, even reviewers, to keep my literary brain feeling useful!

Can you tell us about one of your current works in progress?

Helgaleena: My main WIP has been my editing blog empire. Currently I contribute to GLBT Promo, The Pagan and the Pen, and Dark Roast Press Livejournal. I have my own editing blog, ‘Helgaleena says’, They also expect me to be our DarkRoasted loudmouth at Facebook, so I pass on our news to the romance and paranormal promo groups there, and keep our Facebook page tidy. You will see Helga the Hutt’s icon quite a bit there, especially at our very own open promo group, Dark Roast Press Lovers. It’s free to join and
share news of anything ‘dark, roasted & pressed’, including delicious erotic romances, whether ours or others!

But my favourite just now is the Dark Roast Press Lovers Daily. It’s a cross between Twitter and Pinterest and Tumblr put out by where I get to showcase those DarkRoasters who ‘tweet’. One of our lucky authors is in the spotlight each issue with links to all their books with us. I get to slip in all sorts of other news and commentary too.

Name one thing readers would be surprised to know about you.

Helgaleena: My hair is in dreadlocks like Quinlan Vos, but because it is wheat-coloured I have dedicated it to the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Name your top three writing goals?
Helgaleena: I would like to have one million readers, of anything by Helgaleena.
I want the words ‘fuck you’ to lose their insulting nature in our minds and become permanently endearing.
I wish to continue to heal lines until the lines heal us all, and words of love
are the key.
I'd like to thank Helgaleena for joining us today for those of you who would like to learn more about Helgaleena and her work she can be reached through these sites:

The Incredible Heidi Wasabi, MMF paranormal

Rufus Dixon grew up in rural West Virginia and even though he put himself through folk music school, he's got some working-class attitudes when it comes to making a living at it that drive him into rock'n'roll, and eventually into heavy metal. Like many in the metal scene he parties hard and that means plenty of sex, more than most of us mortals require, with men as well as women. Thank goodness for self-gratification, and the rubber lady he nicknames 'Heidi'.

It's a step up career-wise when the European transplants Virgen Steel, whose sound includes folk-infused strings and whose stage shows include fencing and theatrics, take Rufus on. Bassist Steen Herren needs a front man because he keeps alienating them and overpowering them. Soon they're dueling onstage, literally, as well as taking it out on one another with their fists in the bar afterwards. If it weren't for the music, and some strange chemistry beyond that--Excerpt: 286 words...

'It didn’t come as a great surprise to Herren when one of those drunken spats among the cigarette butts and puddles of beer in the wee hours got them both hard. But Dixon
was looking at him like he’d never seen him properly before. He was merely shaking Steen, not pounding him on the bar floor any longer. Blue and hazel-green eyes, one rapidly swelling shut, managed to meet and lock for a crucial second. It gave the bouncer an opportunity to grab hold of them and throw them both out.

Once they were both on their feet in the alley, Steen pulled Rufus up by the leather jacket and kissed him, kissed the taste of his own blood off Rufus’ teeth and let his lower lip be seized and savaged by the singer’s massive jaws.

My man was in shock. Sure, Rufus the Rude had enjoyed both girls and boys in all his years with bands. But why was he sparking with Steen? The guy had three kids with Anna and another on the way. Yet there was more to Steen than most knew. Rufus had been to his Solstice services. The man was even consultant on that horror film Lunasad. That’s why he’d asked his advice on ‘astral beings’, trying to get a handle on what I was. Did Steen really want to do this or was he just trying to keep the Virgens from splitting up?

So he was tempted to use that reddish goatee for a handle and pry open Steen’s mouth but he did not. He let the kiss take its course and the fire it wanted to start die down. He was breathing like a bellows but he backed off.

I am not exactly doing a ‘giveaway’-- what I will give is a free copy of Heidi Wasabi to any who will faithfully promise to leave a review of it at Goodreads! Contact me there (I have included the url to my Goodreads author page) and I will gladly give out a review copy free of charge.

For everyone else, more excerpts of the book are already free online in several places:
