My Newest Release: Finding His Something Spicy (Spice It Up 2)

Rafe Zakas had no intention of settling down until he met and fell hard for his two closest friends, Nathan and Heidi. But, their perfect trio fell apart when Nathan got a job offer he couldn’t refuse, relocating them. Rafe soon realizes there’s something missing in his life, and decides he needs to find his own something spicy to fill the void. She’s got to be open minded and love him for him, kinkiness included, and he hopes to soon turn their trio into a quartet with Heidi’s help.

Zoey Appleby was content with being single, until her good friend Heidi sets her up with this gorgeous Greek Adonis named Rafe. He awakens desires in her she never knew were there, and introduces her to a whole new lifestyle. Shy at first Zoey has some choices to make, will it be a new love, or the life she’s used to?

“What’s your name sweetheart?”
Rafe was out with Nathan and Heidi again at Drink Nights, and both he and Nathan couldn’t get the image of Heidi with another woman out of their minds. She’d painted the delicious picture of a foursome the very first time the three of them became an item and damn he wanted it bad.
They spotted a stacked brunette over at the bar and when Heidi casually mentioned an attraction, he and Nathan both smiled. Rafe excused himself from their booth with a perfect excuse to get them refills on their drinks, and an even more perfect opportunity to approach the sexy brunette with a proposition.
What’s the worst that could happen? Feeling confident enough in himself that he could make this happen, he couldn’t remember the last time a woman turned him down. Either way when I leave here tonight I’m going to get some. Heidi and Nathan are a guarantee.
“Amber.” She’d given a look from the tip of his toes to the top of his head, and smiled as she looked back into his eyes and extended her hand with evident interest. “And you are?”
“It’s a pleasure, Amber.” Rafe raised her hand to his lips, lightly nipping her knuckles with his teeth playfully before pulling back. He smiled, when he noticed her biting her bottom lip. Oh yeah, baby I know you want me. “My name is Rafe, and my friends Nathan and Heidi over there would like to know if you’d like to join us.”
“Nathan and Heidi?” Amber turned in the direction that Rafe pointed, and looked unsure momentarily, but when she faced Rafe again her expression changed. Her eyes were hooded, and the corner of her mouth quirked up in a slight smile. “And what about you Rafe, would you like me to join you tonight?”Bingo!
“Oh yeah, baby. I wouldn’t have introduced myself otherwise. In fact, I’m hoping to take you home with us. Let’s have a few more drinks first and get to know each other and then we could make some great memories.” He stepped forward to whisper in her ear, “Have you ever had two guys at once, baby, or a girl to play with, how about all three? Think about it.”He pulled back in time to see the expression on her face once she absorbed what he just said. In fact, he could pinpoint the moment it clicked. Her eyes suddenly went wide in shock, and then she bit her lip again momentarily as if to think about it before smiling.
“Sounds pretty intriguing, let me just go say goodnight to my friends and I’ll meet you back here in a minute.”
“Sure thing doll, I’ll just order us a couple drinks in the meantime.”
She nodded, and hurriedly walked to a table not far away. He watched the sway of her curvaceous ass as she retreated and then looked over to the booth he just left with a thumbs up. Nathan laughed, and Heidi smiled wide as if proud of him. He could see the mischievous glint in her eye and all was right in the world. He had the two people he loved beside him, and some fun times in the next hour or two to look forward to. Life was good.

A Day In The Life Of... with Dawne Prochilo

A Day in The Life Of An Erotic Author

My days are spent like any other erotic author...nothing special really. But let me first squelch any myths that may have evolved over the years.

Myth: All erotic romance authors are addicted to having sex all the time.

Fact: We may think about sex, write about sex and talk about sex all the time...but in reality,we're too tired for sex.
Why? We promote, write and have a 24/7 job..simply...we ARE tired.

Myth: Every scene we write in our novels we have performed, witnessed or participated in- that's why the scenes are so descriptive.

Fact: No. We just have a very creative imagination. Maybe some of us have experienced these incidents, but not me.
Why? First off, I'm a female, so anatomically I cannot perform M/M scenes and vice versa for male erotic authors with F/F scenes. *NOTE: Plus we're tired.

Myth: Erotic authors' wardrobes consist of lingerie, sexy short skirts and provocative clothing.

Fact: We sit at our computer desks in our ratty pajamas, usually no make-up, uncombed hair and maybe showered before noon. We have a cup of cold coffee next to us because no one is around to refill it for us.
Why? Because we live double lives. The one you read, and assume we are, and the one actually are.

Myth: We are on the prowl for our next sex scene and novel idea wherever we are...OK, I'll give you that one but don't ask us to name a character after you...

So there it is ladies and gents...what a real erotic author's day is like. But let's not forget the laundry, the dishes, the kids and family and most importantly, a shower before noon.

Writing to an Audience with Kharisma Rhayne

First…thanks so much to Jennifer for allowing me to come back and mess up her nice organized blog. ☺

I’ve been thinking a lot on writing to an audience. As writers, should we write to one? And, if we do, how do we really know which one is the right one for us? I can promote all day long. I love hanging out with my Twitter followers and on Facebook with those that have liked my author page as well as on my main profile page. I absolutely love it. But, ask me to pick one exact type of book to write and I’m lost.

It would seem I’m the exact opposite of most writers. They tend to say they don’t do so well with promoting and prefer to write. While I do really enjoy writing, I couldn’t do just one thing. Even Stephen King picked up a pen name to write some of his books.

I imagine that if I could have readers tripping over one another for the next book in a series, it might motivate me to write that series a little faster. I know I hate waiting for the next book in a series from my favorite authors. So, I wouldn’t want them to have to wait forever to see what happens next. But, I fear, even if I sold billions of the first book in a series, I couldn’t write just that series. My brain is all over the place and if I try to trap it and make it do one thing, it literally rebels and I can’t get two sentences written, let alone an entire book.

As far as reading, I read across the board too. You never know what you might find on my book shelves or on my Kindle. Actually, I have a feeling most would be shocked to look at the variety on my shelves. I read from fiction to non-fiction. I read from paranormal, to historical, to crime, to horror to erotica….and more. My reading can’t be defined and I would guess the same holds true for my writing.

If someone were to email me and tell me they’d really like a book of one style or another or a certain type of plot, I’d try to write it and provide the best book I could in the end. Saying no seems to be another thing I can’t seem to do. Besides, I love a challenge and if there’s something I don’t already have jotted down as a future book idea – I’m excited to find it. I think I’d need four lifetimes to write all the books I have blurbed to be written. Who knows? Maybe one of my daughters will take up writing and I can pass it on to them.

So, my take on writing for your audience is: I write what I like and beg and beg someone to like it. However, I’m always open to hear ideas on what someone would like to see come out from me. The biggest thing we’re told as writers is to write what we like. Since I like to read pretty much everything, that’s an easy task for me.
My upcoming release from Rebel Ink is book 2 in my Living Deadly Series. It’s called Holding on to the Pain and is scheduled to be released February 17, 2012. I love history and the series shows this on and off through each book. I’ve also made my main character, Xander—a Vampire, very special to me. The reason he becomes one is explained in book 1. Again, it was just my take on it. In book 2, Xander starts to get comfortable and even bored within his new Vampire skin. There is sex within this book as well as a scene that is mffffff.

Here’s the unofficial blurb:
Xander steps into his new life as the very first Vampire. His desire for war and killing only increases and his conscience is non-existent. The only thing close to that desire is his need for women. He lusts after them even more than he had as a human.
At time passes, humans become toys for him to meddle in the affairs of. Xander finally finds warriors worth turning into his companions. He begins to create a force of mass destruction -- a force of only the best Greek warriors turned Vampire. His undead elite army.

To find out more about this series and my others and all the genres I am writing in, you can find my blog here and Kharisma Rhayne Books here.

I’m also on Twitter here and Facebook here and here.

Sounds like a great book Kharisma, and I love that sexy cover☺ . Thank you for coming on Labelle Books, and hey, feel free to mess up the blog anytime you like *winks* it's been a pleasure to have you as a guest.

Times Changed, A Guest Post and a FREEBIE with Elaine Raco Chase

First, let me say Thank You to Jen for allowing me the opportunity to post on her blog. I deeply appreciate her generosity and knowledge. And for meeting all of you!
Times have changed both in the book publishing industry and in romance writing. As I'm updating my romance novels, written from 1979-1988, I'm learning a lot – and it's thrilling!
My first book, Rules of the Game (1979) was written as a Dell Candlelight Romance (the American version of Harlequin Presents) and broke a lot of rules. It was the first romantic comedy, it was the first with more dialogue than description (I came from writing for TV), it was the first romance with a male POV, and, according to my editor, very sexy for its time.
So here I am updating it for 2012 and wondering how it ever got published in the first place! The story line is there: boy meets girl, attraction, conflict, boy gets girl. And the 'boy' actually talked to the girl – unlike the brooding, silent Harlequin Presents heroes who said nothing for 188 pages and then the reader read: "But you know I've always loved you." Where? Where was that? What page? Oh, the last page: 189!!!
What's changed in writing romances – be they sweet/sensuous/erotic – well for one, the audience. The 1980's were the skyrocketing times for all types of romance novels, magazines, newsletters, reviewers, and conferences. Romance Writers of America was started by my original editor Vivian Stephens; Kathryn Falk created Romantic Times; and Lady Barbara Cartland was still Queen of the Realm when it came to historical's.
Readers and critics knew romance. They knew that "love at first site" or even "love at first bite" – instant attraction was the main plot point. Oddly enough, Prevention Magazine just reported 60% of Americans believe in love at first site; reported 59% of men believe in love at first site; Cosmo reported 1 out of 4 men know on the first date, if the woman is a keeper. And – Prevention also noted that women see brooding men as significantly more sexually attractive than happy fellows!
But what about readers who post those reviews on your eBook site? Calculated Risk, which is still a free download on Amazon, was until Rules my most updated book, especially going from hot to erotic. And I was startled to read some of the reviews – "way too erotic for me"; "erotic? Mrs. Chase doesn't write the stuff"; "Cover was shameful"; "I skimmed over the erotic sex scenes"; "we left romance to concentrate on too graphic erotica"; And then of course all the negative comments about the attraction between the main characters.
I'll admit some days my skin is too thin. Some days I want to scream out…if people aren't attracted to each other at first site, who wants to work that hard at it? Hey…it's fiction!!!
So as I'm putting the final updates, erotica-wise on Rules of the Game, at lot of those negative comments derail me. (I know, I know…thicker skin, honey) The sexual interaction comes from the characters interacting with each other. It can't be forced. It has to be what each needs from the other. Sometimes sweet. Sometimes spicy. Sometimes erotic.
I hope you'll enjoy a free download of Calculated Risk and look for the ad here, when Rules of the Game gets posted. I asked my husband, who after 42 years is still a hottie but hates these questions: "was it love at first site, when you first saw me?" Usually he groans, grabs the newspaper and tries to hide in the bathroom – but this time he said: "No, it was lust at first site. You still have great tits and a perky ass." Gosh..what more could a romance writer ask for!

*Grins* Now I don't know about you all, but I love this post and would like to thank Elaine for sharing with us today. I especially loved her husbands response to her question too. It sounds like she's got herself a

Please Welcome Author Dana Pratola

I'm pleased to have guest author Dana Pratola on Labelle Books. Today Dana talks about her Romantic Suspense novel The Covering and answers a few questions about herself.

Welcome Dana, how long have you been an author?
Dana: Published, 5 months, but all my life, really.

Awesome, what is your favourite genre?
Dana: Any kind of romance from time travel to paranormal, inspirational to historical.

I love a good romance myself. What is the biggest surprise you’ve discovered about the writing process?
Dana: It’s never over! Even when the book is in print you’ll probably always find something you wish you could add, remove or change.

*grins* Can you tell us about one of your current works in progress?
Dana: I have several in progress but one is about a woman who is suddenly gifted with an amazing singing voice and the choices she must make because of it, as well as the consequences of those choices.

If you had a warning label, what would it say?
Dana: Contents under pressure, might explode any moment.

LOL, if you could choose to time travel, would you go backward or forward, and why?
Dana: Back. I sometimes think I might have been born in the wrong era. I feel at home when I read historical novels. It’s odd that I don’t write them. Maybe one day ;-)

I'd go back too if I could. I'd like to thank Dana for joining us today, for those of you who would like to learn more about Dana and her work she can be reached on her website: , Twitter: , or on her Facebook page:

What do a Christian woman and a faithless bike builder have in common? The devil of course.

The aroma of food halted Gunnar at the bottom of the stairs. He tossed the jacket on the staircase rail and followed his appetite to the kitchen.
Tessa stood at the stove wearing a light blue satin robe and fuzzy orange slippers. A radio murmured softly from an unseen source. To her credit, she didn’t scream when she saw him, though she did drop the spatula.
Gunnar stayed put, not wanting to frighten her further. He could see the pulse jumping in her throat from five feet away.
“I didn’t mean to scare you,” he said.
“Well you do,” Tessa snapped in reflex.
He frowned at the wording. Not he had scared her, but he did scare her. It shouldn’t have mattered, but it did.
When she turned, the look on her face awakened a heat low in his belly. Those fascinating, innocent eyes fixed for a second on his mouth; her tongue ran lightly across her full bottom lip. He wondered if she knew she was causing another kind of hunger to simmer inside him.
Oh, the idea of kissing her senseless was appealing—extremely—but the fact remained that she didn’t simply look vulnerable, she was. It didn’t matter that they were alone. There was a line. Drawing on his new resolve, he took a seat at the table.
“Fine,” he answered at length. Though he kept his voice steady, his pulse throbbed erratically. The way she averted her gaze, more so than the way she looked at him, was making him nuts. He couldn’t win.
“Eggs,” he mumbled so she couldn’t hear. He was going to concentrate on eggs.
“I was going to have some warm milk. Can I get you some?”
“Warm milk?” Distracted by the way her robe parted slightly when she shifted, alternately revealing and concealing bits of shoulder and leg, he would have accepted a glass of snake venom.

Courageous Dare - Another Amazing Lacie Nation Read

I've always been a sucker for a good emotional love story, and I was honored to have the opportunity to read Courageous Dare by Lacie Nation since I enjoyed some of her previous work so much. With that being said I have to say the oppinions in this review are strictly my own. I was given this book to review honestly and although I loved it, in no way did I promise it would be a good one.

Ms. Nation is fabulous when it comes to instantly hooking a reader from the very beginning, and knows how to draw out the right amount of emotion along the way. I'm not sure I've cried this much over a book in my life, but it was well worth the read. This book begins as a fairytale, with tragedy along the way, and has a bittersweet HEA in the end.

So I encourage you to again check out Ms. Nations books and get your copy today. You won't be disappointed. Just be sure to have a box of kleenex handy. You're going to need it.

An Interview and a GIVEAWAY with Park Cooper

I'd like to welcome Park Cooper to Labelle Books today. Park is on the hot seat with an interview, gives us a glimpse of his comedic fantasy Picaresque, and was nice enough to offer a giveaway of his book to one lucky commenter.

For a chance to win it, please leave your email address with your comments.

Welcome Park, how long have you been an author?

Park: I guess I’ll count since our creator-owned graphic novel Half Dead came out; that was April 2007.

What is your favourite genre?

Park: Hmm, interesting question. I guess I’ll say urban fantasy.

What is the biggest surprise you’ve discovered about the writing process?

Park: How it’s even more fun than I thought it would be.

I agree, can you tell us about one of your current works in progress?

Park: Hmm. Currently we’re working on a young adult urban fantasy, as a matter of fact—the heroine’s in the 8th grade.

Interesting, if you had the chance to meet one of your characters privately, who would it be and what would you do?

Park: I’m going to go with Reginald, the narrator of Picaresque, just because for most of his life he was supposed to be training to be an entertainer, so such a meeting could be very entertaining. Of course, he didn’t really train in the way he was supposed to do, but he’s a pretty charming guy anyway when he feels like it.

If you could choose to time travel, would you go backward or forward, and why?

Park: Backward, because I’d know what to expect.

I'd like to thank Park for joining us today. For those of you who would like to learn more about Park and his work he can be reached through his website:

"Picaresque will charm you with its swift pace and levity, its sense of adventure, and especially the colorful band of misfits who inhabit its pages. It put a smile on my face right away and kept it there all the way to the end." --John Rozum, author of DC Comics' MIDNIGHT, MASS and XOMBI

Lillian now finds herself not only searching for Alec but tormented by her lust and growing feelings for Duncan. Will Lillian find Alec or will she fall in love with Duncan? Who is Lillian’s Immortal Love?

I'd like to welcome debut author B.A.Knight to Labelle Books. To B.A tells us a little about herself and has graciously offered to giveaway a pdf copy of her new release Immortal Love to one lucky commenter.

So please leave your email address with your comment, and follow the blog to be entered for a chance to win. The winner will be announced the morning of 01/11/2012. Good luck!

So tell us B.A. how long have you been an author?

B.A.: Well I would like to say I’ve been writing since I was a child but I haven’t. I started out writing erotic stories for my husband. He was away from home a lot due to work so I would hide short erotic stories in his suitcase for him to find. Ya know just to make him miss me that much more. Then in 2003 I wrote a poem about him called ‘My Dark Angel’ and submitted it into a poetry contest, I won and that was the first thing I had ever had published. To be honest I never thought about being an Author until February of 2011. I was getting ready for work and I mention to my husband that I thought about writing an erotic manuscript just for fun. He told me I should do it that is all it took that night I sat down and by the time June rolled around my first manuscript was complete. Now I have my first novel published and three more in the writing process.

Congratulations, B.A. I think it's wonderful that you have such a supportive husband. What is your favourite genre?

B.A.: My favourite genre, to read or write… To read I love reading all books the genre doesn’t matter to me. If it’s well written and grabs me I’m a fan. To write its definitely paranormal erotica. The words just tend to flow from me. Like I mentioned I have three more projects in the works, one of them isn’t so much paranormal I’ve been working on it for months now and it seem to be kicking my muse’s butt.

What is the biggest surprise you’ve discovered about the writing process?

B.A.: I wasn’t really surprised by any of it. I’m one of those people that when I don’t know or understand something I do tons of research, so when I decided that I wanted to try and summit Immortal Love to a publisher google was my best friend. I spent hours upon hours learning about query letters, synopsis, and the whole ‘how to get published’. So I knew going into it that it wasn’t as easy as sitting down and writing a story then POOF instant published Author.

Can you tell us about one of your current works in progress?

B.A.: I have three in progress and one in note form… The longest one with over 90 thousand word count and it’s not even half way finished, I haven’t even titled yet, however it’s been a crazy ride of a story. It has everything in it you can think of: mortals, immortals, aliens, god the devil the mob… it’s pretty intense to write. I also have the sequel to Immortal Love started, it’s going to have more action, sex, and humour and less sappiness than Immortal Love did. I haven’t come up with a title for it either yet. Then there is ‘Lover of Man’. This book is almost complete so I prefer to zip my lips on this on for the moment.. (I don’t want to jinx it)

Whoa, 90,000 words and not even half way finished, it sounds like you've got two books there. I'm sure they'll be great and I'll look forward to hearing about your future success. Now for some fun questions. If you had a warning label, what would it say?

B.A.: Spicy if Bitten, Shy if overlooked.

*Grins* What is the naughtiest thing you’ve ever done?

B.A.: This question is a hard one. I have been with my husband for twenty years. We have done sooo many things to keep the sex life exciting and new so to me nothing is naughty or taboo. With him I will try anything once…. Wait we already

LOL, love it!

I'd like to thank B.A. for joining us today, for those of you who would like to learn more about B.A. and her work she can be reached through her website at: , through her blog at: , and through Facebook:

And, here's a sneak peek of Immortal Love. Don't forget to comment to win it, or buy your copy today!

“Where have I seen that name before?…Contact book!” I went to my room to retrieve my bag, looking around the room, “where did I put the damn thing?” Walking to the table that sat at the foot of the bed I seen the bag pushed up under the bed, as I got down on the floor to reach for it, “How did you get up under here?” I stretched and wiggled my fingers, “gottcha!” As I was backing out from under the bed I seen a pair of tan rock hard legs walking out of the bathroom, my eyes trailed up to a smooth muscular thigh. Slowly raising my head, my eyes feasted on the lovely abdomen that had the perfectly carved V shape that led to his massive,
“Aww shit!”
Hitting my head on the table so hard the vase of flowers fell off. My eyes closed as I tried rubbing the pain away from my head he helped me up by my elbow laughing,
“Something have you distracted?”
I slowly opened one eye; there stood Duncan with his long brown wet tousled hair, wearing only a towel that was draped over his shoulders and the seam that rolled off of his body. Staring at him for a moment my eyes couldn’t resisted taking a ride on the Duncan express. Hey there is nothing wrong with appreciating a lovely view right! It’s no different than diving down the road and stopping for a moment to take in a lovely field of wild flowers, then driving off, I’m not getting out of the car to play, I’m just looking.
“Ummm, I was just getting my bag.”
I held up the bag,
“See got it.”
I stepped back as he stepped closer. With each step I took he took two more, he locked his eyes on mine, for the first time in decades I was nervous around a naked man around Duncan.
Still walking backwards,
“I didn’t think you would mind if I used your shower, it’s roomier than the other one.”
“No… I mean yeah sure no problem.”
I swallowed hard as my back hit the wall. Duncan place his hands on the wall leaving me trapped between his arms, he leaned into me and in his deep voice he whispered,
“So Lillian have I changed much since you seen me last?”
I felt my heart racing,
“aaaa no, no not at all…. You still look… yeah you look lovely.”
I ducked under his arm, and headed for the door,
“I need to get back on these files,”
I held up the bag, he grinned at me, I pointed toward the office,
“Those files.”
I opened the door and looked back as I went to step out of the room,
“Oh Duncan, wet doesn’t look half bad on you either.”
Shutting the door behind me I leaded against it for a moment and took a deep breath,
“Damn the Godds were good to that man!”

Best wishes,
