A GIVEAWAY and guest blog with Brenda Woody & Steve Tindle

I've given the blog to Brenda Woody and Steve Tindle for the day. I hope you all will give them a warm welcome. They've written an awesome post and have generously offered up a giveaway to one lucky commenter.

Welcome Brenda and Steve, the blog is all yours...

Hi Jennifer! Thank you for featuring us on your blog and introducing us to your followers. First we’d like to tell the readers how we began writing together and a little bit about our books. BTW, there’ll be a drawing for one lucky commenter. See details below!

Steve Tindle and Brenda Woody were high school friends in Georgia who reconnected, on a social network, after 30 years of leading separate lives. During their re-acquaintance, they found their past and interests were similar; they had written poems, songs, and both had the desire to be published. Their combined experiences and fantasies inspired their first erotic novel Best Lover in Town, published June 2010 by Charles River Press. The rights for BLT were reverted to Brenda and Steve July 2011. Best Lover in Town was reedited and released with a new cover.

Janet Anderson is searching for sexual magic in the man who can match her in the bed. Janet suspects all this and more lies within her handsome boss, Nathan Lovett. During a work-related visit to Janet’s home, Nathan and Janet give in to an attraction beyond their control, and soon find themselves immersed in a pleasurable night of uninhibited sex and heated passion. To their dismay, their luscious interlude is interrupted, and Nathan must leave on a plane to a far away place; their whirlwind coupling on hold.

Three years pass, and with Nathan gone, Janet’s co-worker and best friend, Madison, urges Janet to end her mourning and explore other possibilities. Janet attends parties and events to fill the void left by Nathan, meeting four other men. Though she experiences new sexual delights and discovers more about herself; her suitors fall flat, and Janet is left longing for the touch of her Nathan. Will the best lover in town return to finish what he started?

Brenda moved to Dallas in 2009 to be closer to Steve, start a new chapter of her life and work on future books. Their second book Temptation Triggers, an anthology of seven erotic short stories, was released June 2011.

Temptation Triggers captures the wickedness of sexual fantasy, the mystery of unexplored territory and the fulfillment of open communication. Among these thought-provoking stories, two friends find themselves drawn into a dark erotic world, a woman encounters a mysterious man and a mature couple discovers hush-hush desires about each other. With different styles of writing, Temptation Triggers reveals erotica that is passionate and spellbinding.

Their latest release Triangle of Secrets, Book One, a ménage M/M/F story, was published October 2, 2011.

Triangle of Secrets, Book One, is the story of three ordinary people trying to make their way in the corporate world and keeping their personal lives out of it. Morgan, the Vice President of a prestigious company, dates her best friend and co-worker, Derek, to hide her secret affair with Scott, the much younger mail clerk. Derek appears with Morgan socially to hide the fact he is gay. He is afraid his lifestyle will hinder promotions. Scott wants out of the mailroom and will do anything his lover asks of him. What happens when Derek and Scott meet at Morgan’s house to fulfill her wildest fantasy? Will the triangle break or will it be completed?
Black & White Affair,
submitted in a holiday contest 2010 and received 3rd place, was expanded and is available as a short read.

Works in progress include Rainie’s Lake and Scarlett’s Cowboy to be released 2011, and future installments of ménage relationships for Triangle of Secrets.

As you can see we’ve been busy since we met up again. Our stories are penned with the perspective of both male and female point of view regarding sexual desires and pleasures. We both write the POV for male and female, and have been told by readers they can’t tell who wrote what. We compliment each other is this area. This is why it’s awesome writing as a team. We’re both open-minded and not worried at all about asking each other questions. And fans have told us how we met again is the start of a romantic story and we should write a book. Who knows maybe we will. *both of us smiles*

Jennifer, Thank you again for allowing us to visit! Readers, there’ll be a drawing. All you have to do is follow us on our blog either with Google or Networks, then come back here and leave a comment with your name you followed under and your email address. That’s it! The lucky winner will receive a copy of Triangle of Secrets, Bk 1 (ebook format their choice from Smashwords). Leave a comment today by 11 PM PST. We’ll draw our winner on Dec. 2.

Wow, not only do your books sound great, I love that you both found each other after so many years a part. I love a good second chance story with a happy ending. What a great post. Thank you Brenda and Steve for being on the blog and sharing your experience with us.

Best wishes,

Giveaway: Meet Dakota and Kebi from A Dog Gone Christmas, by Lindsay Downs

Please help me welcome Dakota and Kebi to Labelle Books today as Dakota leads in this very interesting character interview below.

Dakota: Hi Mom. I’m glad you found the blog. I thought you might have gotten lost.

Kebi: *gives Dakota a glare* Me get lost. Never. I’m not like you boys, I’ll ask for directions but it turned out I didn’t need to. I met Jennifer Labelle on my way over and she pointed me in the right direction. So why did you ask me over here anyway. You said something about an interview.

Dakota: Yes Mom, this is what’s called a character interview.

Kebi: *Rolls eyes* Son the only character I see here is you.

Dakota: Mom, you know I’m not that bad. *Ducks head to hide mischievous grin* Anyway, how did you hook up with Richard and Alison?

Kebi: I met Richard quite a few years ago. He found me by accident. I was walking by the Army base Fort Jackson in South Carolina when I fell into a ditch and couldn’t get out. He came along and helped me out then seeing I had no tags took me in and we’ve been together ever since. Alison, we met a few years later but that’s a whole other story.

Dakota: Even as a puppy I noticed how when Richard would want you to do something you’d think about it then maybe do, but not with Alison. Could you sort of explain why to our readers?

Kebi: Don’t get me wrong, Richard’s a nice enough guy. Soft friendly voice and gentle with the grooming brush. Boy, does he know how to buy steaks. It’s just that he never really motivated me beyond what I wanted to do. That and he didn’t need that special collie protection we are famous for. Don’t forget he’s a sniper with the Army, and a darn fine shot. Now Alison, she’s kind of like the mother I use to have. Fun to be with and fun to work with. Heck, there was this one time when Richard didn’t believe I’d listen to what she was asking of me so she had him stand by the side of the pool. Alison gave me a whispered command and before he knew what hit him, my front paws, he was floundering in the water.

Dakota: So I guess you could say that Alison is the one who really wears the pants in the family?

Kebi: Um, yeah I guess you could say so. Though there are times when he does get to be the boss. Usually, after getting her permission first.

Dakota: Now on to a slightly more serious subject?

Kebi: We’re not going to talk about Nibs and his attitude are we?

Dakota: Ah, no Mom. Actually, I wanted to ask you about the new Christmas book we’re all in, including a very surprise guest that must have made you happy to see.

Kebi: Son, I was wondering when you were going to get around to that. I think the easiest and best way to tell everyone about the book is to let them read the back cover blurb. It tells the story really well without giving anything away.
When a call for paws goes out, five friends bring their collies without question to a friend’s house. They learn the collies are needed to help seven children with the grief of losing a parent in Iraq or Afghanistan. Now, with seven friends, four collie yearlings and their mother, they set out to help the children
Not far away a mother hopefully leads her seven puppies to safety from a man intent on selling them for illicit purposes.
By a miracle of fate the two mother collies find each other right before the man sells the puppies.
That Christmas morning will be one the children will remember all their lives and they are united with the puppies.

Kebi: I’ll tell you son, that had to be one of the happiest Christmas I’ve ever had.

Dakota: I agree with that sentiment Mom. Seeing those puppies and children *Kebi slaps her paw over his mouth*

Kebi: No spoilers brat. *Kebi looks out into the internet audience* Folks another important point, the author will be donating a portion of the royalties to the Collie Rescue League of New England, from where the original me was obtained.

Dakota: One lucky person who leaves a comment will win a PDF copy of the book. I think we’ll let Jennifer do the honors of picking that individual. All you have to do is leave a comment with your email address.
And here is where all you good people can get the book:

Welcome Michele Hope. There's a contest too!

Well I'm pleased to introduce you all to a wonderful author, Michele Hope. Michele is on the hot seat today as she introduces us to her latest release Service Rendered, and allows us to get to know her a little bit as she answers our interview questions. Michele has also generously offered to give away one pdf copy of Service Rendered to one lucky commenter.

To enter:

-Follow the blog and leave a comment with your email address. That's it!

Welcome Michele,

How long have you been an author?

Michele: Like most people, I've heard it said you're not really an author until you become published. So I officially propelled myself into this fuzzy world (where everybody is a writer) back in May with the release of "Robusto" from Summerhouse Publishing. Since then, matters have rolled along pleasantly enough with two more releases, one in the pipeline and a bunch on the drawing table. No wait, that's my husband, the renown illustrator. I have ideas rolling around in my little pea brain and sooner or later I'll commit them to paper? A word doc? Or just memory, depending on if the bass are hitting. Beats banging away on some old Smith & Corona typewriter like Hemingway and all the other greats did.

Well great you are *smiles* congratulations on all your success and we'll definitely be looking forward to future releases. What is your favourite genre?

Michele: I DON'T KNOW! Kinda' like I don't really have a favourite color or food. I like the romance and erotica because my hunky husband writes with me. Or schemes with me or develops story lines with me or just plainly supports me. I've mentioned this before, but we wrote a full length, true romance novel not long ago and a friend who knows more about the genre suggested we write some erotic shorts, submit to the various presses and see if we could get a few published before sending off inquiry letters. Now and happily so, that's happened. I think we may be ready to truly finalize our novel and see what happens. *shrugs* Who knows?

I think it's awesome that you work so closely with your husband, and I'll look forward to the updates about when your novel will be published. What is the biggest surprise you’ve discovered about the writing process?

Michele: That I'm a pretty good speller? I avoid over analyzing most things but realized that for me, writing is like having a good conversation. I can see and hear my characters, be in their hearts and psyche. I suspect most of us are slightly voyeuristic and it's been fun being a blue-bottle fly on the wall while these characters play out moments and scenes. Ask that Benjamin Russell boy about blue bottle flies. I sent him one!

That's awesome! Can you tell us about one of your current works in progress?

Michele: Why yes, I can. *hums contentedly* Oh, you're waiting! Sorry Jennifer. I forget myself occasionally. My husband, partner in life, love, crime and all matters and I, *whew, deep breath* live on our farm in Louisiana. This is undoubtedly the most mystical, magical place I've ever known. It's primordial, ancient and alluvial. He brought me here some years ago and has taught me (patient southern boy) so much. He has taken me to remarkable places, I have met real life characters from olden novels. Sometimes he points out certain things to step around. Voodoo and alligators are two of those things. Our latest book is nearly ready to send off and though there are no alligators, there are witches! There's one that lives down our sleepy bayou, although I only ever glimpsed her once. I prolly' oughta mention there's a LOT of sex too! This story ain't for the timid!

Where you live sounds beautiful, definitely interesting, and who doesn't love a scorching read *smiles* or at least I do. You've read some of my stuff. *snickers* If you had a warning label, what would it say?

Michele: Patience please; I'm as slow as this lazy land all around me!

lol, If you had the chance to meet one of your characters privately, who would it be and what would you do?

Michele: In the few books we've had published to date, our protagonists have remained the same. We have allowed them to play in various and fun settings, plying their charm and command over other sometimes willing, sometimes unsuspecting characters. Everybody gets lucky! My leading lady is prone to introspection and danger in the latest books. I like both. I'd love to have for café au lait and beignets one morning here at the farm. Or maybe have my extreme guide husband take us up the bayou to explore. I'm betting a shopping adventure with her would, how should I say, daringly fun!

Cool, If you could choose to time travel, would you go backward or forward, and why?

Michele: Oh most assuredly back to the time hoop skirts and grande balls! Around me everyday are the treasures of all this history, romance and culture. I love to stroll on the galleries of these magnificent ante bellum homes with a Pimms Cup in hand. I'm a lucky girl, I have done just that with my Southern boy on my arm.

Okay last question, I promise. What is the naughtiest thing you’ve ever done?

Michele: Jennifer! Now you just stop that.

Ha ha ha, fine. There'll be no naughtiness today then. For those of you who would like to learn more about Michele Hope and her work you can friend her on Facebook:!/profile.php?id=100002210387209

I'd like to thank Michele for stopping by. Please enjoy this excerpt she provided and don't forget to buy your copy of Service Rendered today!

A handsome, charming and slightly dangerous couple depart their Creole plantation home for an evening of elegant partying, Old South style. Our prettiest of Southern belles has given thoughtful consideration, not only to her ensemble, but to the many possibilities the evening may hold. She loves to be entertained! After arriving at the grand antebellum home for a charity ball, their evening progresses in friendly and warm hospitality. Bourbon flows and the jazz plays on. The night heats up, an unexpected flirtatious encounter with an equally beautiful woman sends the lovely young chatelaine in search of her handsome and commanding husband. She finds him at the bar, suggesting playtime. Their moment leads to seduction and a beautifully appointed guest room. Further charity plays out in the mirror of an antique vanity . . . with a young bartender, unwitting tourist to it all.

As I walked from our bedroom toward my waiting bath, it was you who was waiting, sly assassin that you are. Without a word, you spun me around to face the wall, my appeal extinguished by your cupped hand, the towel falling to the floor in silent witness. Your restraint lessened as I knew resistance would be futile then I felt your finger tips caressing my arms, outlining my shoulders, tracing down the center of my back. Closing my eyes, I could sense your breathing, still in control yet beginning to rise in concert with my diminishing will. You chose this seduction and I became your compliant and ready victim, needy of your resolve. The delicate nape on my neck rose in electric response and I could smell you in the ionic air. The scent of power. I knew what to do.
Without prompt, I extended my arms to the wall, pushing back against your power. Full of grace, I bent at the waist, offering the barest of resistance. Then the slap to my bare bottom. "Yes!" The sharp crack of palm on flesh reverberated down the short hallway, ricocheting off the bathroom's cool tiles. The report came back to me at light speed. "Spank me one more time," my hushed plea. "and then I will surrender." I stood on tip-toes, arching my smarting buttocks high for your access. Another smack to the same cheek. I welcomed it. My legs spread, my toes struggled to gain purchase on the hardwood floor. I felt your hand massage the sting with gentle caress then handle my breast coarsely, my nipples stiff and aching. Compelling me more, you prepared me with a single finger. I adored letting it all be about you. Because I am in your sphere, I'm pulled ever closer and closer, only to be set free. Oh God! Yes . . .
You had your way with me and never ever selfish, you allowed for my pleasure before your own. That nobility is your manner and with a kiss to the back of my neck and sweet reminder, " How I love you," you disappeared with the same stealth as your assault. Like the dove, I was released.

Best wishes,
~Author Jennifer Labelle~

A Saturday Snippet : Meant To Be

Meant To Be has recently been reduced to $3.99 on the Secret Cravings Publishing site, and was recently reviewed at The Romance Reviews: So in light of that I thought I'd treat you all to a couple of excerpts.

Jenna Baker is shaken up after her recovery with a near death experience. As if, being haunted with visions and losing her husband in a car accident weren’t hard enough. Could she be losing her mind? She finally moves on, only to have the husband she thought was dead suddenly reappear.
After the shocking task of convincing Jenna that she’s not seeing his ghost, Tyler becomes overwhelmed with guilt for saving himself and leaving her to almost die. Jenna’s recovery takes its toll while Tyler’s vulnerability gets the best of him. He’s harbouring secrets that will devastate her and as Jenna unravels the truth her life takes an unexpected journey.

Excerpt #1:

“Um, if I forget to say this later, thanks, Sam.”
They finally arrived.
“You’re thanking me in the airport.” Sam said with a laugh. “That’s very sweet, Jenna, but just wait until we get out there.” She gestured to the beautiful scenery of Dublin visible through the doors, “I’m really hoping that you can have a good time. Start out fresh in new surroundings, have an adventure, live a little, let loose, and have fun. Now that’s the vacation I’m hoping to have.”
Putting an arm around her, she stopped. “Speaking of beautiful scenery, what have we here?” Sam played innocent as she turned Jenna to see what she was talking about.
Two men stood only a few feet away from them, just staring. There was an instant attraction when her eyes met with one that scared the hell out of her, and she panicked. “Sam, I don’t think I’m ready for this,” she whispered, wide-eyed. Now that she was there she was getting cold feet.
“Relax, Jenna. It’s okay if you’re not ready today, but honestly, hun, how long has it been?” Sam asked.
Jenna was clueless. “How long has what been?”
“My guess, in fact I know, it’s been over a year now.”
She looked Jenna straight in the eye and nodded because it was true.
“But I’m just not sure that I’m ready to take the leap, Sam.” Sighing in defeat, Jenna felt bad for Sam. She was obviously interested in hooking her up. The problem was sex and men were two subjects she wanted, but she just wasn’t sure of anymore, hoping to get there someday.
“They’re really great guys, Jenna you’ll see. They’re also our ride to the hotel. Just let me introduce you, and see how it goes.” Sam flagged Brady and another guy over.
Jenna recognized him right away as he neared. Sam had shown her several pictures from her last trip, and it was hard to forget someone you had fantasies about. He was gorgeous.
Given no other choice Jenna sighed and tried not to fidget nervously.
“Hi,” Sam laughed giving both men a hug. “I missed you guys. It’s so great to be back again.” Sam lingered, putting her arm around the lighter haired one, and then turned to face Jenna again.
“Jenna this here is my cousin Brady Connelly, and his delicious friend Caleb O’Donnell. Caleb, Brady, this is my lovely best friend, Jenna.”
“Hi,” Jenna waved, and turned red with being put on the spot. Two gorgeous men were looking at her, and she’d been out of the game so long that she wasn’t sure what to do next. Caleb waved and engaged in a conversation with Sam, while Brady stared.
She was hypnotized.
He extended his hand, “Lovely, Jenna, it’s a pleasure to meet ye.”
Jenna gulped nervously, and tried to smile. “Brady.”

Excerpt#2: (Explicit)

He smiled again, taking the last plate from her to dry and shook off the extra suds. Drips of water and soap suds flew through the air getting her wet in the process, and he laughed at her shocked expression.
“Oh, really,” she said in the mood to play. Taking the sprayer hose from the faucet, she turned it on and gave him a squirt. She laughed, and it was his turn to pause in shock.
She could tell by his expression that this meant war and made a run for it, laughing the whole way. She made it into the living room before he extended his arm to catch her, swooping her up as if she was feather light.
“Got ye.”
They both laughed, but when she turned to face him, he became serious suddenly. She knew then that the games were over. He brushed a strand of hair from her face and pulled her towards him. Slowly moving his face closer, his eyes sparkled and completely absorbed hers.
The kiss started out slow, and she wanted him to take his time with it. She held back a groan when his mouth pulled away and pulled him tighter against her. Her adrenaline pumped faster, and she could feel the warmth coursing throughout her body. There was no thinking twice about it; her desire consumed her.
Pushing him against the wall, she kissed him hard, wanting him in that moment more than she’d ever wanted anything. She liked where this was going, liked being in control, needed it in that moment.
Placing her hands on his chest, she slowly moved them down his beautifully sculptured abs. “Stay,” she whispered, taking a step back so that he could watch as she unzipped her dress. It slowly slid to the floor exposing her bare breasts and the sexy black thong she wore. She kicked it out of the way, pulled his shirt off, and pressed herself against him again, flesh against flesh.
“You’re the first man I’ve wanted in a long time,” she confessed, no longer feeling as vulnerable as she once had. “My first since Tyler left me.”
“Jenna,” he moaned, flexing his hips forward. Her confession seemed to shock but flatter him. “I’m staking my claim, love. Do you hear? Ye’r mine now, as I am yers.”
Purring, she rubbed up against him to create friction against the heat of her core. Getting moister by the second, she lowered her head to lick and nip at his nipples, working her way down his stomach towards the cock that she ached for. She slowly pulled his zipper down.
“No underwear what a pleasant surprise,” she said and gently pulled him out for her wet mouth to taste.
Angling him where she wanted, he gasped and moaned as her tongue circled the head. She took him as far back as she could over and over, swirling her tongue up and down his thick shaft, turned on even more with his rapid breathing and evident excitement. It made her feel powerful and sexy as hell to bring him so much pleasure.
“Feck yesss,” he hissed. “Like that, oh, shite, Jenna…” He leaned back and closed his eyes, visibly enjoying the feel of her mouth on him.
She could tell he was close and cupped his balls while working him harder to take him over the edge. He placed his hands in her hair and began to flex his hips faster and faster to fuck her mouth. His orgasm rushed through him, and he roared her name in delight as she sucked every last drop down her throat.
It seemed to take him a minute to catch his breath before he swept her off of her feet and into the bedroom. “It’s time to return the favor,” he murmured, dropping her in the middle of the bed while he playfully nipped her thong between his teeth to discard it. She moaned as his head lowered, making him smile against her glistening lips.
“Brady, please…”
She was breathless with need, lifting her hips as soon as his tongue took the first stroke. His slow deliberate circles taunted her. As soon as she was close, he drew back, going lower. His tongue slid through her folds tasting, savoring, and then stroking in and out as he fucked her with his tongue. She moaned again and then huffed as she reached out for him. Threading her fingers through his thick dark hair, she gave it a little tug to guide him where she needed him most to end the sweet torture.
He chuckled before he obliged the silent demand, the tip of his tongue applying pressure against her clit with sure, confident strokes to take her over the edge. She stroked her fingers back and forth through his hair, messaging his scalp as she rocked her hips and then screamed his name as the powerful force of the orgasm took over.
They made love and cuddled the rest of the night. When she woke up the next morning, she was happier than she’d been in such a long time. They’d had an amazing time the day before, and she was still in Brady’s arms. He was very attentive and treated her like she was the only one that mattered. Realizing she’d developed strong feelings for him was a scary thought. It couldn’t be love already, could it? It was so soon. She felt a strong connection with him and being intimate had only ignited that spark a million times more. It was hard to explain, but she had never felt that type of chemistry before, not even with Tyler.
She smiled, pulling away from her thoughts. Having strong feelings for a man again was scary enough, but even worse was not knowing if he felt the same way and knowing she had to leave him eventually. She didn’t want to think about it anymore.
“Good morning,” she greeted, pressing her naked body against his. She sucked on his bottom lip and smiled. “I think it’s time for more,” she murmured then kissed him, preparing herself for whatever he was able to give her.

Who wants a $15 Secret Cravings Publishing Gift Certificate? Welcome Layla Hunter!

It's my pleasure to introduce the wonderful Layla Hunter to Labelle Books. Layla is a fellow Secret Cravings Publishing author who has decided to answer our interview questions, tempt us with an awesome excerpt, and has graciously offered to give up a $15 gift certificate to Secret Cravings Publishing to one lucky commenter. So, let's show her some much earned love shall we for a chance to win.

Comment, follow the blog, and leave us your email address. That's it, and you'll be entered to win it!

Welcome Layla, how long have you been an author?
Layla: I’ve been a writer for as long as I can remember … at least thirty years. If we are speaking technically, I’ve been an ‘author’ (*laughs* the word still makes my stomach flutter) since my first short story was published at Every Night Erotica on July 16, 2010!
I’ve wanted to be a writer as far back as I can remember! My Nanns slipped me a few True Romance comic books and a romance novel when I was about eleven, and it may sound corny, but it was love at first sight. I wanted to read everything I could get my hands on and after a couple of years, I wanted to write stories that would make others feel the way the books I read made me feel.
I can’t remember a time when I didn’t think about writing. I swear I must have been a writer of some sort in another life! *laughs* Truth is, I really don’t have a choice … I find I HAVE to write or the characters in my head will keep me up at night. They are relentless about wanting their stories told.
About 15 years ago, I was ready to submit my first ms when our daughter came along and … *fast forward 15 years* Amazing how those years fly by! But here I am…better late than never I always say… and with another decade of life experiences under my belt to enrich my writing.

What a wonderful answer. I'm so glad you were able to persue your dreams. Time does fly by doesn't it?

What is your favourite genre?
Layla: I’ve been strongly drawn to erotic romance, whether it's contemporary of paranormal/fantasy. I tried my hand at erotica, but I found that I need romance to be central to my story and have the ‘intimacy’ between my characters a sensual enhancement to their relationship. And the hopeless romantic in me needs a HEA, or at the very least, a HFN ending.
I’ve always loved the paranormal/fantasy genre as well, and I’m drawn as powerfully to this genre as I am to erotic contemporary. I'm currently trying my hand with an Erotic Fantasy and an Urban/Post Apocalyptic Fantasy. I love the freedom the 'fantasy' element adds.

Wonderful, what is the biggest surprise you’ve discovered about the writing process?
Layla: I’ve always loved writing…everything from the first spark of a story, to choosing my character’s names, picking a location and the research…LOVE the research! Transferring the mini-movies in my head to paper is an adventure and I love getting lost in their world while I’m doing so. Sometimes my characters take me to places I hadn’t expected but I don’t fight it…I follow where they lead.
What I didn’t realize was just how much work is still needed after you write ‘The End.’ Edits, edits and more edits, which I didn’t really mind because after all those edits, my story shines! The promotional end of the process truly took me by surprise. The time and energy needed to put yourself and your work out there is enormous and I have a newfound respect for those who have gone before me. The social networking aspect of the business is an exhaustive endeavour but on the bright side, I’ve met some amazing people in the process.

*Smiles* I feel the same way writing definitely isn't an easy task but well worth the effort so I agree with you there. Can you tell us about one of your current works in progress?
Layla: My current weekly free read at Secret Cravings Publishing has me working on new instalments of 'My Soul to Keep' every week.

Here is the blurb:
Special Agent Analiese Valentine – aka "Val" – lived and died for her career. Possessing a sixth sense for as long as she could remember, Val always knew she was different – and so did everyone else. So different, in fact, her own mother – apparently unable to tolerate her daughter's unusual gifts – abandoned her, forging internal scars so deep most relationships, if any, were cultivated at a safe distance. A near-tragic accident opens unexpected doors – some otherworldly – changing her life in ways she'd never imagined possible.
Dr. Maxwell "Max" Thornton, a psychologist, ironically lives an almost reclusive life except for his practice. Although his empathic abilities allow him to help his patients in ways most practitioners never could, the effort is taxing, at times debilitating. Keeping a limited and selective clientele, he manages to pursue a career and maintain his sanity, convinced normal relationships are out of the realm of his reach.
When a guarded agent and a reluctant empath cross paths, unexpected revelations occur and a delicate thread binds them to one another as a predetermined Fate begins to unfold, sending them plummeting into a war between good and evil.

In addition, I'm working on another instalment to my short erotic story, Masquerade, series. Currently, 'Masquerade: Cooking with Fire' is available for a free read at Every Night Erotica. This is the next instalment of Maggie and Gabe's journey to spice up their marriage by experimenting with sexual role playing and the like. If you want a sexy bedtime story, stop by and see what Maggie and Gabe have cooked up to reignite their sex life!

They sound like great reads. Now for a couple of fun questions:

If you had a warning label, what would it say?
Layla: One of my favorite quotes is “Well-behaved women rarely make history.” Where would we be if women such as Rosa Parks, Susan B. Anthony, Eleanor Roosevelt, Rachel Carson, Marian Anderson, Isadora Duncan, Edith Wharton, Paulette Barnes, Nellie Bly, Gloria Steinem, Janet Guthrie and Helen Gurley Brown had 'behaved' themselves?

LOL, love it! If you could choose to time travel, would you go backward or forward, and why?
Layla: I have a great fondness for the Native American culture. My choice would be to go back in time … far enough back where I could spend considerable time with these remarkable peoples in their original element. I'd love to spend time with the Navajo or Sioux. The women of the Iroquois held powerful positions in the tribe; they owned the longhouses, controlled the land and even chose a Chief. And can you imagine going back far enough to find out what really happened to the Anasazi?

It would definitely be an interesting experience indeed. I'd like to thank you Layla for joining us today. For those of you who would like to learn more about Layla and her work she can be reached on her website: , on Facebook: , and on Twitter:

A note from Layla: "I love hearing from readers and other writer's as well!"

Now here's a little more about one of Layla's latest releases "Skin Deep". Please enjoy!

Emily Monroe, a statuesque high school English teacher, is convinced that getting a tattoo to cover the remnants of her brush with Morphea is the only option left to open the door to self-acceptance, allowing her to finally move on with her life after the devastating diagnosis left more than physical scars in its wake.

Rick Sutton, owner of Skin Deep, a successful tattoo shop, has his own cross to bear. Crippling guilt and the specter of unrequited justice overshadow every aspect of his life, trapping him within the haunted corridors of his heart and soul; until the day Emily walks into his shop.
Instantly, he recognizes a kindred spirit in Emily, and a tenuous bond is formed. When the intimidating yet teddy-bear of a man offers her a glimpse into his passionate side, she is moved by what she sees and takes a leap of faith. Together they traverse the physical and emotional journey of freeing themselves of their perceived flaws, an erotic undertaking that proves to them beauty is only Skin Deep.

If you have a moment to watch the trailer for Skin Deep …

Adult Excerpt:

Still shaken from the overt sexual reaction to his touch as well as the sight of the breathtaking canvas of her back, she let him guide her back to the table and help her up. With legs swinging nervously over the edge, she watched anxiously as he dipped the brush into the powder, tapping it against the side of the jar before returning to stand before her.
Her feet stilled as the brush swept over her breasts again and again until she lost herself in the resultant rush of heat, responding with a soft cry before stopping herself.
"God, Em…you're driving me crazy."
"I…I could say the same." Her voice caught and made a small noise that sounded almost like a purr.
"Do you trust me, Em?"
He rid himself of the jar and brush. Then, placing the pillow behind her, gently urged her back against the table until she was lying down, all the while searching her gaze for any sign of dissent. Apparently confident she wanted him to proceed he sat on the stool and rolled himself into position in front of her.
Those large hands hid the gentler truth of a tender touch as he eased her legs open, sliding his palms underneath her backside and raising her towards him.
As his tongue grazed the sensitive flesh of her inner thighs, she drew in a sharp breath before releasing a deep sigh, followed by a deeper moan.
"It's been a long time Rick." You just might want to let me dust the cobwebs off first, she was tempted to suggest but remained quiet, curious.
"That's a real shame. You don't mind if I remedy that unfortunate situation," he replied playfully, lowering his head between her thighs.
About to protest, the first rush of warm breath against the silky fabric of her panties quieted any objections. Moving his mouth along the outline of her mons, he seemed in no rush, intent on exploring her fully. Following the contours of her outer lips, he gently nipped and pulled against the fabric, rousing a scintillating need within.
A soft cry escaped her lips when he nuzzled her, his nose brushing against the swollen pearl nestled in damp folds. Undulating waves of warmth and wanting rippled over her from head to toe and her hips arched instinctively as the ache for something more began to grow.
Damn, it had been so long, too long. The intimate feel of his mouth refreshed her memory, reminding her first and foremost of the passionate woman within, before revealing with stunning clarity that she was still sexy and desirable, despite her perceived flaws.
Reaching down, her fingers moved through his hair, his locks slipping over her skin, tickling as if she’d just passed them through a spider's web. When she urged him against her, he stilled, lifting his head.
"Rick…" Her voice filled with an almost desperate pleading and when he didn't respond immediately, she panicked, the old fears creeping back in to steal this moment from her.
Lifting herself on her elbows, she looked into his eyes, her gaze searching his.
"You want more, Em?" He grinned at her mischievously.
She smiled despite herself. "Yes! Tease.”

Welcome Cynthia Arsuaga

Today, I have the pleasure of introducing author Cynthia Arsuaga to Labelle Books. Cynthia treats us with a sneak peek of Texas Heat, and answers our interview questions.

What a lousy forty-second birthday Charlie Reynolds is having, the only gifts—a pair of cowboy boots she bought and cake by the town’s diner proprietor. An embarrassing moment with the new veterinarian tops the day off. Divorced and lonely, she soon discovers her libido isn’t dead. Lusting after the tall and handsome doctor can’t go anywhere. No way would he be interested in a plain, older woman ready to be put out to pasture. Or so she thinks.

Zach Callahan is heating up the ladies in the town of Brady Hills. He returned to his Texas roots from Virginia to start a new life taking over a thriving practice. The first day, he meets a gorgeous woman, and is instantly smitten—cowboy boots and all. He’s only interested in heating up the sheets with one woman in Texas, and she doesn’t want anything to do with him. Or so he thinks.

Temperatures rise as the heat between Charlie and Zach reaches the boiling point.

Welcome Cynthia,

How long have you been an author?
Cynthia: I’ve been writing for two years and published since January 2011.

Congratulations, what is your favourite genre?
Cynthia: I initially and primarily write Paranormal (Vampires), but have ventured out and written contemporary erotic romance and have one submission out that is a fantasy historical/contemporary combination. Sounds strange, but I don’t know what else to call it. We’ll see if the publisher doesn’t think it’s strange.

I'm sure they'll love it. What is the biggest surprise you’ve discovered about the writing process?
Cynthia: I started out writing to occupy my retirement hours and boredom. Let’s be honest, once I had that first manuscript accepted, you couldn’t stop me! I found the writing easy, the promotion difficult. That has been the biggest surprise.

*Smiles* I can relate to that. Can you tell us about one of your current works in progress?
Cynthia: I have several in the fires. Books 3 and 4 in the Born Vampire Series and Book 3 in the Forces of Beauty Series have about three to four chapters each written. I have experienced a great reception with Texas Heat, so I started to write the continuing story of Charlie and Zach until I was side-tracked with a new story I dreamt about a couple nights ago and began writing because the muse wouldn’t go away. Picture Ireland, small village, Irish-American woman inherits an estate and discovers a “spirit” from medieval times “living” in the cottage on the property. Secrets, magic, murder, and lots of hot sex. Still working the “kinks” out. LOL

Wow, that's awesome. There's definitely enough WIP's to keep you busy for awhile. Best of luck with all of them. If you had a warning label, what would it say?
Cynthia: Handle With Care, Doesn’t Do Mornings.

LOL, If you had the chance to meet one of your characters privately, who would it be and what would you do?
Cynthia: A toss up. Either Christian MacKenzie from A Cougar and Her Vampire or his friend, Ramsey Weiss from A Vampire in Paris. Both are very continental and with either we would tour London and Paris in style.

Mmm, two men huh? The possibilities would be endless. LOL, okay enough with the naughty thoughts and on to the next one. What is the naughtiest thing you’ve ever done?
Cynthia: Probably the naughtiest thing is on my first wedding anniversary, hubby and I went to Ft. Lauderdale and one night we went to a hip, chic nightclub and I began a slow striptease for hubby on the dance floor. There were a lot of people dancing on the floor, and I was partially concealed, but I did have an audience. Thank goodness we weren’t arrested! A good night! ;)

Ha ha ha, you go girl. If you could choose to time travel, would you go backward or forward, and why?
Cynthia: Great question! I’d like to do both for totally different reasons, but if I had to choose…I’d say forward. I’d love to see my great-grandchildren. My grandchild is only seven, so that would be quite a few years in the future.

I'd like to thank Cynthia for joining us today. For those of you who would like to learn more about Cynthia and her work she can be reached through her website: , and you could check out her blog: , I'll be on there today so please do stop by and comment. For now please enjoy a tasty excerpt from Texas Heat below;

Adult Excerpt: (explicit)

“Perfect, now come here. I think it’s time we lose the rest of our clothes?”

No verbal response came to his suggestion; she just locked her gaze on his and walked back to his side in a slow, cat-like manner. She was enjoying this seductive dance of foreplay as much as he was from the expression and body language he displayed. Stepping closer, she placed her fingers on his tight stomach, a sliver of curly hair was visible above the low rise of his jeans. Nothing about her touch was tentative as she dragged her fingertips across his skin, stroking upward as his muscles flexed. She gazed up at him, and said, “You do it. Undress me.”

Obviously, he didn’t need a formal invitation and made quick work of the job, reaching down to the hem of her nightgown and pulled it over her head. She stood before him naked except for her lace bikini panties. The palms of his hands reached to her full breasts, massaging them, and the hard nipples perked up.

“Ohmigod.” Charlie sucked in a deep breath. A long, low moan confirmed her sensitivity and his success. How she loved a man of action. Something her ex-husband never was.

Zach nibbled along her collarbone and down to the rise of the lush breasts that had filled his hands moments earlier. Free of any constraints, her nipples were hard nubs begging to be squeezed and he obliged. Cupping the full flesh in his hands, his head inched lower. He caught first one, then the other pebble in his mouth, raking each between his teeth. Gasps of delight and moans escaped her mouth. She had other treasures he needed to explore and arched her breast into his palm, demanding more attention.

“You really want to make love to me?” she asked, breathless.

Instead of answering, Zach took her hand and placed it on the button fly of his jeans. She gasped, feeling the hard throbbing flesh beneath the denim. He released a nipple from his mouth with a pop, raising his head, their eyes met.

The deep despair and loneliness that had enveloped her earlier disappeared. She looked at Zach with joy and belonging. His sexy smile, filled with desire and excitement, had her heart thudding hard against her ribs. He wanted her. He really, truly wanted her.

No words needed to be spoken. She started to unbutton his jeans and peel them over his hips and down his legs as he continued to play with her breasts. When the jeans dropped to the floor, he stepped out of them and kicked them aside. Pressing against her, she realized he had nothing on, and his erection pushed on her belly. A sudden wetness drenched her panties.

Review: Sunny Days, Moonlit Nights

Rating: A Definite buy!
I just had the pleasure of reviewing Jean C. Joachim's Sunny Days Moonlit Nights, and I loved it!

Caroline Davis White aka Sunny Davis has had enough. She’s finally gained enough courage to leave her loveless marriage and start her life over. Escaping to the cabin her parents left her, memories of a happier time come flooding back as well as her childhood crush Mickey, now known as Mike Foster. Forever her hero, as just like in childhood, he ends up saving her again in adulthood.

Life is far from simple though, she’s a famous artist and her husband is not ready to let her go. More drama occurs when she makes the headlines for disappearing, and worst yet once her cheating husband finds out about Mike. Sparks ignite, a childhood love is re-born, and it’s a fight to keep everything she holds dear in the end. A fight she’s determined to win.

Mike Foster walks by the old Davis cabin just as someone screams for help. With adrenaline pumping to see what’s wrong, he’s surprised to see the gorgeous naked woman in the bathroom unable to move without being burned. The faulty piping has made the water scorching, but it’s not the only thing in the room that’s hot. Two childhood friends reunite, and he soon finds himself falling for the gorgeous woman he always used to keep out of trouble. Sunny’s hiding something from him though, and he’s determined to find out what it is. His heart is on the line, and he can no longer picture his life without her but is she willing to give him a chance?

Sunny Days, Moonlit Nights is a well written heartfelt romance that will motivate you to keep turning the pages. Once I started it, I couldn’t stop until the end. This is the second book I’ve read that Jean C. Joachim wrote, and I’m looking forward to more. Have you gotten your copy yet?

Welcome Elaine Raco Chase

I'd like everyone to help me welcome talented author Elaine Raco Chase to the blog. Today Elaine is in the hot seat as we learn more about her and one of her many great stories, Double Occupancy.

Welcome Elaine, it's a pleasure to have you with us. Can you tell us how long you've been an author?
Elaine: I've been a published author since 1978, with sixteen novels, one non-fiction how-to-write the Amateur Detective novel, an edited a book of award winning mystery stories. I have all my rights back and am now updating, enhancing and adding to all the novels and turning them into ebooks. None were ever done on a computer, so it's been an interesting experience.

Oh wow, you've been in the field for quite awhile. Congratulations on all of your success, and of course the best of luck with your new projects. Can you tell us what your favourite genre is?
Elaine: I love writing sexy contemporary romance as well as sexy mystery/suspense.

*Smiles* and I love reading contemporary romances as well as sexy mystery/suspense. What is the biggest surprise you’ve discovered about the writing process?
Elaine: Well TV makes everyone think that you just sit down and an entire book tumbles out of your brain and into print. In actuality, it's research, research, research – the characters, the plotting, the dialogue, everything. Writing is hard work but very rewarding. I love getting fan mail that says: "Wow, I found where your characters really live. I was going to stop but there was a big fence around the property." Yikes!

LOL, Can you tell us about one of your current works in progress?
Elaine: I am currently updating, expanding and doing quite a bit of re-writing on my very first contemporary romance: Rules of the Game. It was written in 1978, published in 1980 under the Dell Candlelight Romance line which then became Dell Ecstasy. So in re-writing, I pulled out all my original notes, re-connected my brain to the characters and expanded the story line from it's original 55,000 words by 60 pages or more, changed the ending a bit, turned the sweet romance into a few explicit love scenes (we weren't allowed those back then! And Adam & Samantha have been waiting such a long time!) and unfortunately had to adjust the 'war.' Adam was a Vietnam vet …now Iraq war, so I took the liberty and highlighted a great cause: Wounded Warriors.

Sounds like a great read. Now, if you had a warning label, what would it say?
Elaine: She should be stirred/not shaken – cause she can be volatile over certain issues.

Interesting, lol. What is the naughtiest thing you’ve ever done?
Elaine: Accidently stumbled into a Secret Service sting operation – and didn't understand what was going on and refused to leave!

OMG, that sounds like an amazing story for your next novel. *Smiles* for now we'll just use our imaginations and picture some sexy men working undercover to catch the bad guy and pictures ourselves as the damsel in distress that gets the hero in the end...

Okay, now back to the present. For those of you who would like to learn more about Elaine and her work she can be found on Twitter: @ElaineRaco, on Facebook:!/profile.php?id=1770288528
on Amazon:
and on Manic readers -

Her books are also located on the right hand side bar right here on Labelle Books. Just click on the book covers to learn more and get your copy today!

For now Elaine has decided to treat us with more on Double Occupancy. Enjoy!

All Casey Reynolds wanted was peace and quiet and a long vacation from covering the crime beat in Boston. That's why she agreed to borrowing a villa in Mexico to rest, be alone and work on her novel.

But then he showed up -- Travis Craig. He said he was offered the villa to recover from a serious illness. He had just lost his teaching job and had no money to leave.

She agreed with his plan to share the house -- but on her terms. Soon rest and relaxation were a thing of the past when their double occupancy proved too erotic to control.

Here's an excerpt from Double Occupancy – available on Kindle/Nook/Smashwords/ and ITunes Bestseller:

"It was a stupid idea, sharing this place. It's not like a co-ed dorm, it's just you and me, not a bunch of people. And it's quite obvious that all this togetherness has just made our hormones go crazy.
"Yes, that's it…we are just two horny people being controlled by hormones. Between you being sick, then playing Tarzan and our trip to the jungle lagoon and all those olives and too much sun, and wet bathing suits. And you getting mad over the seven erotic knights – with a k, and my bad sunburn. Then me being Cleopatra with the perky ass and the milk baths and position number thirty-eight in the Kama Sutra.
"And you playing doctor and all that clinical foreplay and…and our underwear tumbling around in the washer and dryer together and wet bathing suits and you naked with a staple in your navel and –" her words skidded to a halt, she took a breath and realized she wasn't making any sense. "God, I need a frozen cheesecake."
At his snicker, Casey squared her shoulders. "Don't even go there, mister. I am not PMS'ing, contrary to your masculine brain. I never have PMS and the pills I take only give you a period three times a year and I'm not due for another three months." Her hand slapped over her mouth. "Oh, my God, you have successfully driven me insane!"

Second Chance Love: Excerpt #2

As promised here's another snippet for you to enjoy. Get your copy today!

Excerpt #2:

Jagged rocks aligned across the coastline. The moist salty air was refreshing, and the tide slowly rose against the Fundy Shore. It was good to be home again. Teegan sat on the fallen tree trunk, and tried to capture the beauty of the scenery with her sketch pad.
She hadn’t been there in years and the beauty of it still captivated her. This secluded patch of beach once belonged to Liam’s family and she wondered if it still did. Seeing Liam again brought so much back to her, that she just needed a place to unwind, and some of her most precious memories belonged right where she was.
Smiling, she turned up her iPod and sang along to the lyrics of Shinedown’s Breaking Inside, relating to the lyrics. Subconsciously, she ended up adding a boy and his father fishing right where she sat into the picture. Liam! Why can’t I seem to let you go? Sighing, she almost fell off the log and into the water. Her heart raced, and adrenaline pumped as she wondered who in the Lord’s name snuck up on her like that.
Large arms wrapped around her, pulling her close as his heat enveloped her senses. He was the one man in the entire world who could make her weak in the knees by just being in close proximity to her. The one man she was trying to avoid. Too afraid of her emotions. Oh Lord, he smells so good. Get it together, Teeg. You don’t even know him anymore.
“Liam?” She sounded breathless and winced turning away. She could not let him see how he affected her, could not risk losing her heart again. It hurt too much.
“Hasn’t anyone ever told you not to sneak up on someone like that? Geez, you just about gave me a heart attack not to mention an unwanted swim.” Placing a hand to her heart she turned to face him again only to have the urge to smother his smile with her lips. He was beautiful, and she missed the taste of him.
“It’s good to see you too.” He chuckled, “And there is no way I would have let you fall in. Hasn’t anyone ever told you that this is private property?”
She could tell by the glint in his eye he was only teasing, and she hated how easily he could make her smile. As if, she was eighteen all over again. “Ya, but you see, I used to know one of the owners of said property very well. I have many fond memories here, and I just had to see if it was as remarkable as I remembered it.”
“Well is it?” His face turned serious as he closed the distance between them.
With his closeness distracting her she whispered, “Is it what?”
Before she knew it his head was lowering and her breathing turned rapid. Be careful what you wish for. She could feel his breath against her and all she could think about was the taste of his lips on hers. Soft, plump, and delectable...

Best wishes,

Second Chance Love: Sunday Snippet to Celebrate it's PRINT Release!

I'm delighted to share with you all that Second Chance love is now available in PRINT, and to help celebrate I've decided that I'd like to post a few snippets over the next few days. I hope you enjoy them!

Goody, goody Teegan Hallowell was tired of being teased for following the rules. So, when her brother’s sexy friend shows an interest, she rebels, and learns all about the good kind of bad.

Now ten years later, Teegan returns home to escape a horrible mistake, but wonders if she’s made an even bigger one by returning. There was a reason she left Digby, when her dreams shattered and the man she loved betrayed her. So when she realizes she’s still in love with him, matters become complicated when he reveals her reason for leaving him was all in vain.

Liam Bates has every intention of loving Teegan again, but she’s had it rough and he needs to rebuild her trust. The spark is still there, and as they explore what once was, their love is tested when Teegan disappears, and Liam will stop at nothing until he finds her again.

Excerpt #1: (Rated PG)

Liam was even better looking than she imagined. With light brown locks that curled just at the nape of his neck, he had gorgeous blue eyes that she could get lost in. He was a man who treated his body right. Tall, with broad shoulders that met a lean muscular chest, and what looked like six pack abs hiding nicely awaiting her discovery. She just barely resisted the urge to rip open his button down shirt to get a better view. He was gorgeous.
It was a beautiful clear night, and they had the pier to themselves. Fishing boats docked on either side, the moon was full, and she had the sudden urge to walk along the waterfront to dip her feet in the water. "I guess it's a good thing James got me to tag along." She smiled at him. James had ditched them almost immediately to find a quiet spot to get reacquainted with Susan.
"I agree." He smiled back. "It doesn't surprise me that they ditched us though. When those two get together nobody matters but the other." He winked, making Teegan laugh.
"I think what they have is amazing. Anyone would be lucky to have a spark like the two of them carry for one another. They've got great chemistry and an obvious sexual attraction. They can't keep their hands off of each other. I'm just thankful they waited until I wasn't around to act on them. In the car it looked like a close call a couple times." She shuddered, and this time he laughed.
She stopped, and twirled around with her arms spread wide. "Don't you just love it here? Everything is so beautiful." Bending over she took off her shoes and socks. "Care to join me?" She ran towards the water and squealed when the cold hit her toes.
"You're full of questions suddenly," Liam teased. "I do love it here actually. I love fishing, boating, and swimming. Maybe I should take you whale watching sometime."
"I'd love to."
"I'm glad. You know I haven't smiled like this in a long time. I like you, Teegan."
"And I like you, Liam, What took you so long?"
"For what?"
"Well, I've been single and dateless for months." She shrugged, "I guess I just wish that we'd met sooner."
"Well, that is a shame. You're too beautiful to be dateless. I guess I'll have to remedy that for the next little while." He stepped towards her, right at the edge of the water.
"Well," she beckoned, "I'm awfully lonely over here."
"Really?" He hopped on one foot and then the other as he removed his shoes and socks. "I'd hate for you to be lonely, Sunshine." He stood in front of her, pulling her into his embrace. He wrapped his arms around her mid section and kissed her forehead.
"Sunshine? I'm not sure that I like that nickname.”
"Why not? You've certainly brightened my day, but I can think of a new one if you don't like it." He took a strand of her long blonde hair between his fingers and twirled it. "Your hair has gold highlights in it. Sunshine suits you, Teegan."
"Well, when you put it that way—" Her heart beat quickened, her face flushed, and she held her breath as he moved his face closer. "Liam."
"Yes?" His lips stopped short of touching hers.
"Please kiss me," she whispered, raising her hand and brushing her fingers through his hair pulling him the last inch. Their lips touched, mouths opened, and tongues met with an equal desire. Swept away with the moment he lifted her and as she put her legs around his mid section, Liam seemed to slip. She screeched, and then laughed as she landed in the cold water. "Well big guy, the cool down was nice and all, but I think I need you to warm me up again."

Best wishes,

My Review:
Who wants "Trouble"?

Well, I do, if it comes in the form of Kyler Landon. :)

Cooper escapes from an abusive past, and thanks to the help of a good friend she ends up living right next door to Kyler. She's shy, a little insecure, and has trust issues, especially when it comes to men, but there's just something about her sexy neighbour that draws her to him. She watches him from afar every chance she can get, until one pissed off rattle snake is about to strike and she has no choice but to help out a neighbour in need.

Kyler is a small town boy born and raised. He lives a quiet life, and would like to keep it that way. Until one day he decides to do some chores, and is disrupted by a tempting female voice warning him to be still. From that moment on his quiet life turns into a heap of trouble, but it's the type of trouble he wants to keep. He's grateful to Cooper for saving him from a snake attack and sexual tension mounts between them. He soon realizes Cooper's been hurt and is determined to heal her wounds by showing her his love. But, just as their love begins to grow, their happiness is put to the test when Cooper's past catches up with them. Misunderstandings are made, their livelihood is being sabotaged, and Cooper gets hurt in the process, but Kyler does everything he can to protect her from anything more, and makes it his mission to save her so they can move on.

I really enjoyed this book, and would definitely recommend the read. It's a well written tale, filled with emotions, a great romance, and a touch of humour. I'm really looking forward to the next installment to this series.

Now as a treat here is an excerpt for you all to enjoy,

Kyler Landon smoothed the supple leather with a large, roughened hand. The saddle was almost completed. This particular saddle would go to the Houston Livestock Rodeo and be presented to the current World Champion cowboy. It was solitary work, but work he enjoyed. Tooling patterns on the leather was his favorite thing, this one had a vine pattern, and the brand of the cowboy‟s ranch figured prominently in the design. Letting his mind wander, he found himself caressing the leather, remembering the last time he touched the velvety skin of a woman. Stop! He tried to turn his mind away from sex. He tortured himself night after night with images of a soft, sweet woman who would welcome him between her thighs. He wanted a woman who would let him love her as much and as often as he wanted. A woman that would enjoy his loving as much as he enjoyed loving her.
It had been a long time, too damn long. Dallying with the local girls could get you into a whole passel of trouble—especially a man in his position.
The sound of a vehicle stopping at his front gate pulled him from his sensual reverie. He imagined it was the mysterious little black car from down the road, but he knew better. This was a bigger engine. Sometimes, when he was working out in the front yard, that car would go by and slow down to a crawl. The windows were tinted completely black, a great deal darker than was legal, he knew. So, he was at a disadvantage. He couldn‟t see who was behind the wheel, but whoever it was could sure the hell see him. And they had looked, long and hard. He could actually, physically, feel their gaze on his skin.
Hell, he had even fantasized about who was driving that sexy little car. Once, when he had been working on the front fence without a shirt, the driver had actually run off the road. That fact had made him smile. Whoever it was, he was getting to them. As his luck ran, however, the driver was probably a woman in her seventies or a man in his forties. But one could dream.
He sat there too long, dreaming. He heard the vehicle leave. Rising from his chair, he made his way out of the Saddlery shop and across the yard to the main house. A package sat by the front door. „Must have been UPS,‟ he thought. Good! He had been waiting on some custom silver belt buckles for a special order. Taking the six front steps in two leaps, he grabbed the package from the floor, opened the door, and let himself in.
Laying the cardboard box on the coffee table, he grabbed a beer and headed back to the yard. The belt buckles would have to wait. One of these days, a cold front would head this way and he would want to put a fire in the fireplace, so wood needed to be split. He opened his mouth to call the dogs, but then remembered he had taken them to the vet for their annual check-up and shots.
Today, it would just be him. Alone again. Going to the side of the house, he retrieved his axe. Chopping wood would go a long way to working off some of his sexual frustration. Maybe. Hell, it was worth a try. The wood was piled out front near the gate, a mix of red oak and hickory, as good for barbeque as it was for heat. He swigged the beer, and then set the bottle up on top of a fence post. Ky had employees who could have done this work for him, but he like to keep in shape and there was nothing better than real physical labor to put on layers of muscle—it beat the crap out of a gym, any day.
It didn‟t take long for him to find his rhythm and even a shorter time for him to get hot and decide to shed his shirt. As he worked, he reviewed his plans for the next few days. Tomorrow was his day to put time in at his animal shelter, Saturday was Angel Pantry day and not a woman in sight for the best date night of the week. Shit!
* * * *
Cooper drove slowly by the Landon place. Ah, sweet Lord! There he was. And the fact she had been a good girl was paying off in spades. The powers-that-be had seen fit to reward her by letting the sun beat down hot enough to cause Gorgeous to shed his shirt. She slowed to a crawl. Sometimes, he would stop working and watch her drive by. Today, he appeared too busy to notice. A movement at the side of the woodpile caught her eye. What in the world? Cooper was alarmed to see a huge snake crawling out of the stacked logs. The vibrations of the axe on the wood had obviously disturbed it. This couldn‟t be good.
Cooper pulled over and stopped. Trying to be as quite as possible, she opened the car door but did not shut it. The snake was right behind her neighbor and she was afraid to call out, for fear, any sudden movement on his part would cause the snake to strike. The rhythmic movement of the man and the axe had the snake, seemingly, hypnotized.
She walked as silently as she could, until she was at the fence, right behind the snake. He was coiled and ready to strike. Cooper knew snakes, having grown up on in the deserts of southwest Texas. She quickly recognized that either the rattler had somehow lost his rattles in an accident, or someone had intentionally caught it and removed them for a hat decoration or whatever.
It was now or never. Putting aside her normal reservations about being so close to a man, she decided his safety was more important than her own. Climbing slowly up on the fence, she spoke softly. “Don‟t move, Mr. Landon. Don‟t move a muscle.” The snake was huge! Coiled up, it was hard to judge, but it could easily top five feet.
The beautifully muscled man slowed his movements, until he was still. “Is this a hold-up?” He asked the question softly, with a touch of humor in his voice.
“No, but there is a major-sized rattlesnake right behind you, and it‟s getting ready to strike."

Haunting Magic with Author Raine Delight

Rain Delight is on the hot seat today with her new November 7th release Haunting Magic - Devon Falls 4. Welcome Raine, it's a pleasure to have you on here!

How long have you been an author?
Raine: Seems like forever when it’s in all reality just a few years.

Congratulations, Your Devon Falls series sounds great. What is your favourite genre?
Raine: Well, it jumps all over. From paranormal, to GBLT to contemporary and I really enjoy mixing the genres up.

I love a good paranormal, and I've read a few in the GBLT genre as well. As an author, what is the biggest surprise you’ve discovered about the writing process?
Raine: How much work it is to get your name out there. Branding and marketing have become quite normal for me nowadays.

Again congratulations, getting recognition and marketing your work can be tough and quite costly but definitely worth it. I wish you much success.

Can you tell us about one of your current works in progress?
Raine: Currently I am working three projects so I can’t say just one.

One is a new series I call ‘Destined Mates’. I took a dash of fate, added in a few unique paranormal characters and stirred. What you get is a trilogy of stories where the opposite of people find out they have three days to accept the mating mark or die. Currently I have two outlined, stories started and I am continually surprised to see it cross from MF stories to a MM. Lots of intriguing things my muse comes up with. Hoping to get the first two books done and sent to my Beta readers in beginning of 2012.

Second I have a trilogy of stories planned set in a Paranormal BDSM club. Lots of reaseach for this one and I hope to get Club Fantasy into my publisher in early 2012 as well.

Finally, I am finishing up Devon Falls series with final four books. Still working on the particulars but three of them is situated around the final founding family, The Craven Family and they are elemental mages. Then the final book is one that ties all the loose ends I have been hinting throughout the entire series.

Wow, they all sound fantastic. I'll have to keep my eye out. If you had a warning label, what would it say?
Raine: ‘Watch out, fully loaded’

LOL, now if you had the chance to meet one of your characters privately, who would it be and what would you do?
Raine: Oh man I think it would have to be my Space Pirates I am currently polishing for submission. Take a dash of Nathan Fillion’s Firefly Character, add in Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow and stir. Both my boys are hot, sexy and alpha. YUM. What would I do? *winks* Wouldn’t you like to know.

*Chuckles* we'll just use our imaginations for that one. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Raine for joining us today and answering our questions. For those of you who would like to learn more about Raine and her work she can be reached through her website: , her blog: , and on Facebook:

He looked even better close up though she damn well wasn’t going to tell him that. He had a swelled head as it was, considering all the honeybees that swarmed all over him. She mentally gathered her defenses. If she didn’t know better, she would have thought she was in lust with Rodrick, impossible as seemed from the way they sniped at each other. Shaking her head slightly, she felt his gaze move to her and heard his startled breath as she walked up to the porch.
“Hey, Rod, slow night?” Jax asked. Her eyes drank in the way his muscles bunched under his t-shirt. She felt her stomach clench, though it could have been the anticipation of food that waited inside the dark mahogany doors. The way he was watching her had her nerves on edge. She didn’t know what the hell his problem was, but Jax was determined to get in and out with her order before Rod pushed her buttons. She just was not up to dealing with him tonight.
“Yeah, seems everyone is getting ready for the Halloween costume dance tomorrow. What are you up to tonight? Got a dinner date?” Rod growled at her, his eyes shining with a glow that almost made Jax take a step back before she caught herself. Shaking her head, she said, “What the hell is wrong with you tonight? I was going to have dinner with Grady, but he got short-staffed and had to cover tonight. I just wanted to see if I can grab a take out from your mom.” Jax marveled at how normal it was between them. Though she thought the hair on his arms bristled at the thought of her on a date, it probably was her imagination. Rod wasn’t interested in her, just the ones who wanted a good time and an easy lay.
“I am sure my mom would love to give you something since everyone knows you can burn water without even trying.” The smile that tugged at his lips had her eyes go wide then narrow in annoyance.
“What the hell would you know about cooking, you jackass? I bet you couldn’t make something if your life depended on it,” she sneered. Her hands closed into fists and she was tempted to smack him for being so damn annoying. If she didn’t know better, she would have thought there was a smile lingering on his smug face.
“Oh, are you challenging me, Jax? Can’t take the fact that I may actually know something you don’t? Want to take that to a test?” Rod leaned forward, stroked a finger down her nose, and said softly, “Afraid that maybe I can do something that will make you readjust your opinion of me?”
Jax was stunned by the clenching of her pussy as he traced his finger down her nose. If she didn’t know better, she could have sworn there was a flare of interest in his eyes; though it could have been that she was moon-mazed or something. Jax tried to still the weak-kneed response to him touching her as she tried to form an annoying response.
“You can boil water? Oh, my god!” Jax looked up at the darkening sky and then back at Rod. “Wow the sky hasn’t fallen yet. Did you pay off Heaven or something? Has Hell frozen over and no one told the Devil?”
The smile that played on her lips had him growling low in his throat. Jax didn’t know what to think when Rod yanked her to him and said, “You have a death wish don’t you Jax? You really don’t want me to show you that I can do that and so much more.” His voice was low and husky; Jax felt her bones turn to mush as he nipped her ear. He turned her on, no two ways about it and damn it, why him? He has to be the most annoying man on this planet yet he also was sexy as sin and damn it to hell and back, he made her want him with every inch of her being. Trying to shove away from him was like trying to hit a rock with an open palm. He was an immovable object and his eyes, she could have sworn, glowed faintly.
“Will you please let me go, you ass?” Jax tried to keep her voice strong and pissed off but dang it; he was making her stomach do flips every time he nipped her ear. “If you really want to prove to me you can cook, fine. I swear it is like your male ego got in a snit or something.” She huffed and blew her breath out when nothing else seemed to make him let go, though if she were honest with herself, she liked his hands on her body. Still, it wasn’t like she was going to tell this idiot that. No telling what else he would do with that information.
“Is it possible that I can go grab some food before I die of starvation? I swear if that was your goal tonight, Rod, you are not doing a very good job.” Jax said as she felt his hands glide down her arms then let go, the lack of his touch almost had her keening for more. This attraction she had for him was getting out of hand, especially since she and Rod rubbed against each other like oil and water.
Her treacherous body leaned into him before she caught herself and as she glared at him, she didn’t know what the hell was going on tonight but for some reason tonight he was determined to drive her insane.
“Go get your take out, Jax, but tomorrow, make no plans for the evening. I got something to prove and frankly, I am more than a pretty face, Jaxon. I think it’s time for you to see what else I can do besides be the resident “Lathario” as you so charmingly call me.”
“Fine,” She snapped at him, disgusted with her at the way her body aroused from the way his voice. “If it makes your fragile male ego happy to prove something, come on over and frankly it better be edible please. Nothing frou-frou or stuff that I cannot pronounce for god’s sake. I get home about six so come by after that.”
The next thing she knew, he leaned over, snatched her from her spot on the sidewalk and smiled as her eyes widened. “Jaxon, if I didn’t know better, I would say you are intrigued by me making dinner for you. If this keeps up, I think I am going to have to show you some of my other hidden talents.” Then before she could form a coherent thought and punch him, he leaned forward and laid his full wet lips on hers, teasing her with a light caress of his tongue and with light firm kisses until she was panting and flushed. Before she could form a sane thought or even think of pushing him away, she kissed him back, teasing him with hard kisses as her tongue dueled with his as her arms wrapped themselves around his waist. With one last reluctant kiss, he stepped back. His eyes glittered in the moonlight and Jax saw his arousal strain his jeans. “Now the deal is set, Sweets. I will be there around six-thirty so don’t be playing the ’I am late’ game, I will be waiting for you.” Then he sauntered away back into the Inn, leaving her body primed for something and ready to kill him.
